Status match with Ba

Duncansaffron Welcome to AFF and Australia
Where is AU will you be? In AU for ever? Or a few months/years?
Is there anyway to get status match of BA gold with Qantas’s Platinum.. have been BA Gold member but now moving to Australia
Very unusual to have a status match in an Alliance.
QF have an accelerated tier option. But cannot find a link.

Anyway you may be better with BA and avois as a ff currency. Virgin Australia are a ff partner of QR Qatar

QANTAS does Double Status Credits offers once or twice a year. Status Credits are similar to Tier Points on BA. DSC offers can help get status quickly without a match. There has just been a DSC offer, so there likely won’t be another one till at least late this year.

Some popular ways to get large amounts of status credits quickly include flying indirect to New Zealand or further afield in Business.

MEL-AKL, SYD-AKL and BNE-AKL all earn the same, but by having a domestic connection you can earn more.

BA is moving to spend based status, but QF hasn’t as yet. That may make QFF more attractive for now, but there’s a good chance that QF will move to spend based status too.

BA used to be a very good programme for Australians who fly internationally (as long as they could take 4 BA flights a year). Status was (along with QF) one of the easiest to attain, and unlike QF you received full tier points for partner flights. However, the change to spend-based status makes it much much harder.
IB is ok to get Gold but harder for Platinum. RJ had (?has) a hotel status match. AS may work for some

QF status matches (outside of a challenge as per @mwenzi) are very rare unless you are a megaspender.

You can still use BA status card for most things except extra baggage while you are accumulating status with another OW airline
