Status Miles: Alaska Airlines

Hey all...

just did an SFO-SEA-YVR-SEA-SFO on Alaska Airlines in F (or J, whatever.) giving 300 SC. (cheap as! ish.) how long should it take to appear on my account? It's been a few days and I don't want to bother Qantas prematurely.

Assuming you booked the AA flight numbers, I would expect it to show up in under a week.

This appears to be an AS on AS metal itinerary so I don't think QF will give you any status credits.

Please let us know if you convince Qantas to give you SCs for these flights.

AA do codeshare on that segment with AS, although the SEA-YVR is in Y only.

There appears to be no Instant upgrade available via AA though. How did you book it mikekhoury?

i've gotten them before... they're an airline partner? Now I'm worried that they're not anymore even though the site clearly says they are...

anyone else have experience with this?

also, SEA-YVR is absolutely in J if you book the 11pm flight. the others are on Horizon Air, which don't count.

In 2008 we flew F class Alaskan Airlines from LA to Vancouver and then from Fairbanks to Seattle - had been booked through Qantas - as associate airline, did not get any SCs, just miles.

Yes indeed - didn't know about AA codes etc back then.

Plenty of experience has been posted.

The issue is in the omission in the airline earning table. Look again.

c.f. For"American Airlines® (AA)" (AA flight numbers) the following appears:

"Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes."​

There is NO such line for the Alaska Airlines entry. If there is no such entry against an airline then SC's are not eared on their flight numbers.

As posted in many places within this forum, you need to travel on the AA flight number on AS metal to earn Status Credits.
