Hello,

Looking to book a flight on BA CityFlyer from BCN to LCY in J. I think I should earn 40 status credits for this but on the Qantas Status calculator it doesn't allow me to select that route.

Anyone have any experience with earning SC on BA CityFlyer?

Cheers, C

Yes, it earns just fine. Your route should earn 40 SCs as it's 712mi provided your booking class is one of CDIRJ

I earned status credits just a few weeks ago on a BA Cityflyer LCY-AMS fight (booking class D)

It's great to read that you can earn status on BA City Flyer.
If you purchase a semi-flex business ticket, does that earn at the Business rate with QF (40 per trip for short-haul intra-Europe)?

I'm tossing up between a direct flight with LH FRA-EDI in Y for ~$850 (expensive for a 2hr Y flight), or BA CityFlyer FRA-LCY-EDI in J for ~$960 ($110 more but with the possibility of earning 80 QF SCs).

The BA CityFlyer option lands 3.5 hours later in EDI (after departing FRA within half-an-hour of the direct flight), which means that I won't get to my accommodation until 5PM/6PM. I don't believe that there are any lounges at LCY (I'm happy to be corrected) so will need to sit around for >2hrs. I will have LH lounge access (for the first option) with my Amex Platinum card.

I'm interested to hear what others think and whether $110 and 3.5hrs is worth 80 SCs (I understand that YMMV but I'm curious as to how others think with this).

(All values are displayed in AUD even though I'll be paying the EUR equivalent on the websites.)

$110 is worth 80SC but Depends on your schedule as to if it’s worth the time….LCY isnt the best airport to hang around in not much to do and pretty crowded

I did BER-LCY-EDI a year or so ago after BA cancelled my BER-LHR flight (and therefore not able to reasonable connect to EDI).

Yes, no lounge at LCY but also you have to clear immigration, customs and go back airside for the onward connection. Bags should be checked through.

There’ll be OW lounge access in FRA (looks like BA use the JAL lounge).

Most of the legacy Euro carriers still have the anachronism of charging full whY for one way flights. Fortunately, BA is pretty good for one way fares (and slightly cheaper again to book return or open jaw).

The other workaround is to use points to fly intra Europe one way. Alternately, one of the many LCCs are fine if you just want to get from A to B quickly and inexpensively.

Thank you, @jrfsp, and @SYD, for your information.
After careful consideration, I opted to purchase the BA CityFlyer FRA-LCY-EDI tickets in J.
Annoyingly, this will add 3.5hrs to my travel but the extra QF SCs will be handy (for both current membership year and lifetime status) and (hopefully) I'll get a nice view of the London skyline twice.
I understand that there may not be much to do at LCY (and also that they don't have a lounge) but once I go through passport control and other lines, hopefully there won't be too long to wait.

I would have absolutely made the same choice as 80SC would be worth a lot more than $110 to me, and inconvenience of a connection and extra time.

There is not a great deal airside a LCY a couple of places to eat/drink, duty free, WHSmith and Boots from what I recall, and that is about it. There is no lounge and seating is often crowded in the central area, but if you walk down towards the gates they will not all be in use, and it will be a nice quiet area to sit. You will need to go through security again at LCY but is is usually efficient and quick.

You will get some nice views of London as the airport has some tall buildings in the area, requiring a 'steep approach'.
