It's common knowledge that EVERYONE get their status renewed the first time they drop from that level down to the next regardless of how many status credits are on the table at the renewal time.

But what I'd like to know is who has had their status renewed TWICE on the same level while falling short...

Back in my SG days, I was comped to SG two years in a row. The first year (2003) I ended up with ~560SC's and in 2004 I was comped with just the 480 SC's in September, two months before my October end date. ... I did finish that "year" with over 600 though ...

... then I found AFF / FT ...

I would not say that it is common knowledge, not even accept that it is factual

Dave

If the theory that you're comped as long as your average SC's = that status level, then if I don't earn enough SCs in my next membership year, I should be comped WP for another 2-3 years at least.

Fingers crossed! :D

Good point Dave. Its not factual. My wife received an email telling her that she was not being renewed as Platinum. This was her FIRST year. I had to intervene and clarify her planned travel with QF to get it renewed as Platinum.

That's my point though, everyone gets a free ride on their second year regardless of how it comes about whether it's through QF initiative or your informing them of your future activitiy or you banterring them.

Your first 'free year' after not re-qualifying is a given - what I'm after is customers that have had 2 years of free rides in a row and the reasons behind it.

Reasons are at best speculations. I don't believe the SC averaging theory that some have. My free requalify had nothing to do with acheiving any average.

yeah the SC averaging theory is totally bogus.

first year i got platinum was 1410 SC, comped 2nd year with under 100 SC.

Note that in 2005 there reports of many more than normal QFFers being comped an additional year's status.

Anecdotal post in various fora postulated this was done as a form of Panacea to disgruntled elite members after the May 2005 QFF program enhancements.

As I have mentioned in the past a friend was comped Platinum 2 years running. The first year with 650 SCs and the second year with only 510 SCs!

I am also not convinced about the SC averaging theory.

Interesting discussion here.....

I am QC Life + PS for the last 2 years. Does anyone rate my chances of being renewed for PS after pulling up 100SC short (@ 200SC) for the year?

When is your reassessment date? You will generally know if you have been comped status for another year ~2 months before the reassessment date.

I book flights for bands who all travel on the same amount of flights (for the most part). Because they record one year and tour the other, SCs are high then low then high again. Last year, 2 band members had 340 and lost Gold whilst two others had 360 and retained. All joined at the same time and have fluctuated at the same rates until now. So as I see it, there's a trigger number.

Interesting thought... a hidden qualifcation level 100-200 SC below the published requalification amount?

How fast did the band members achieve their 360 odd SC? Did they go over the 350 level early in their membership year or late?

Has anyone been only a few SC short and not been comped?

I'm sure we can get to the bottom of status comping and figure QF out ;)

Wouldn't count on completely working out. I remember people being 50 SC short and not getting comped while other folk with 100-200 SC bing re-comped platinum. So, whatever mechanism they use, it is not straight forward.

That would not explain being renewed at Plat level with 0 (zero) SCs for the year. Previous year was 3700 SCs. In that example, the trigger must have been very low .

Yes but was the comp the 2nd year?

We have already ascertained that the first year requal is a given and free regardless of the number of SC attained.

No, you have just asserted this.

Dave

100% of the feedback here so far is that you keep it when it's your first time on the way back down and you've never been comp'd before. This can either be through automatic renewal, through a letter/phone call or through the member calling up and asking.

I'm yet to see one shred of evidence against this idea.

We've proved this to be correct, now you go find me just one person who was denied keeping their elite status on the first year moving down?!
