Having just completed my recent flights I find myself 40 status credits short of Gold and have until 28th February 2020 to obtain them. Problem is not enough were on Qantas or Jetstar, as to fly direct to Europe from Adelaide one cannot fly Qantas.
Is there a way to obtain these SC's without flying or changing c/c providors.?
 
No way to obtain SC without flying.
There is the QF non flyers club, but you can't mix the 2.
Have to fly QFd to SYD to connect to QF1.
Or QFd to PER then with connection to QF9.
 
Your four squiggles could be Adelaide Melbourne Canberra return which gets you 40 SC and just play around until you get the cheapest - could do it one day if you were so inclined

There is no requirement that a certain number of SCS be earned on QF or JQ to retain gold.
The two requirements are 600 SCs (however earned) and 4 qualifying sectors.
It is the 4 qualifying sectors which have to be flown on QF or JQ.
So when you say you are 40 SCs short and it is because not enough flights were on QF or JQ, you seem to be conflating the two requirements.
If you could specify how many SCs you currently have and how many qualifying flights you have flown, then we may be able to offer you better advice to make up any shortfall.

Rules state for bonus points or SCs I need 500 on Qantas or Jetstar metal or QF coded flights but my 2 overseas return flights were with Malaysian and Qatar. Qantas have a strange arrangement with MAS and my business class only earns Flexible economy SCs.
Hence I was looking for a way to get the 40 SCs without the expense of flying.
So I qualify with the 4 Qantas flights but need 40 more SCs and will not get the option of points or SCs by having earned 500 SCs as they were. It on Qantas or Jetstar or coded flights.

Thanks so you only need 40 SCs. It doesn't matter how you earn them.
Unfortunately they will need to be earned by flying, but eligible flights with any partner airline will do.
So you could wait until you need to fly. Or alternatively do a status run.
I know this can be difficult from Adelaide. You get a bit of a raw deal.
The points and status credits earned for PER/BNE/SYD-ADL for example are less (15/30 for Y) than PER-SYD/MEL/BNE (20/40 for Y).
But the points needed to book an award flight or for an upgrade are the same!
The cheapest option I can think of for 40 SCs is a Y flex return to MEL.

@Henchy If you go down the SC run thing the quickest, easiest (1 return flight) and cheapest would most likely be ADL-KGC on a flex fare. Cost is around $280 and will earn 20 SCs each way, it is only a 40 minute flight. You would have to book as one ways as the computer will say no to same day return based on MCT, however the same aircraft in is the same aircraft out so any arrival delays are not an issue. I do not do SC runs but ADL-KGC is cheaper and easier than ADL-MEL.

Just to clarify on this.

I think you are confusing the rules for earning Loyalty Bonus SC's (50 for every 500 earned) with the SC's you need to attain Gold.

for the Loyalty Bonus, yes those SC's need to be earned on QF or JQ flights but Gold has no such restriction - as long as you have the 4 QF flights minimum (~ as we say) then all the rest can be on QF partners such as BA within Europe as you mentioned being in Europe.

Alternatively yes, just doing a quick return to OOL (Gold Coast) or somewhere like LST (Launceston) from ADL will do. However if in Europe, then flights on BA, IB or AY (for example) will do the trick - just be sure to check the calculator to see what you would earn on some of the very short sector.

The only way to get the SCs at this stage will be to fly.

As others have suggested:

You’ll need to do the pricing comparisons on the dates you are available to see if it’s cheapest to do:

On Qantas metal
2x20SC flight (ie. outbound and return) - could be longer distance / higher SC or shorter distance / higher fare class to achieve
4x10SC flights (ie. two returns) - could be cheaper than the above

In theory you could do 2x15 plus a 10, or 25+15 but that will probably be hard to achieve exactly.

Or JQ with a bundle to earn the SCs (as above - could be 4x10 or 2x20)

Or combo of above.


FWIW i’d Be looking for a sale within your available dates (Feb is often good for that....) and see if you can find 2x or 4x red e-deals that would earn sufficient SCs.

Let us know what you end up deciding. Otherwise post availability and i;m sure members will look at options for you (priced in $/SC.....)
 
ADL - MEL with comfort seat whY booking one way 10*2 SC, and flex Y 20*1 coming back, or comfort seat booking both ways 10*2*2.
Dep ADL 10(10am) and return 18(6pm).
 
Many thanks to all those who gave me suggestions and ideas.
Bottom line is only way to get SCs is to fly.
I now have to weigh up cost/benefit, as I am already a Senior Life member of Qantas Club then I do not need gold for that reason.
