Status Upgrade - Time Taken to Receive New Card

Qualified WP first week in December, card arrived on Friday - I called them earlier last week to ask, they were pretty helpful and told me there had been some production delays in December on the new NGCI cards which was causing the delays.....
Seems to be resolved now.

But Still 5 Weeks or more is still a lot to wait. All of these are automated processes and given the good network/efficiency of the Australian postal system 2 weeks to the max is very reasonable . Anything more than that is just an excuse for inefficiency IMHO. :)

Just to add my experience to the pile. I attained PS early november last year and then SG mid december. Never received the PS card or tags and as yet haven't received the SG card or tags.

I emailed qantas start of last week and received a phone call a couple days later telling me they're running low on stock but I should receive my cards in about 3 weeks.

I also got PS beginning of November, card and tags were sent out within two weeks.

I don't think you are taking into account the numbers and the time of year, their system would be able to handle almost 750k cards a month in normal circumstances to allow for renewals and status upgrades, in the last three months they have had to issue a years worth of cards, close to or exceeding 8M in number, with Xmas not helping.

It should also be noted that DJ are taking a similar time at present.

My SG tags arrived within two weeks of achieving that status.

WP which I made in the first week of November arrived about 20 December. The upgraded status appears instantly on your BP's, however.

I was just thinking that last night… if mine arrive next week it’ll have taken about the same time. I guess an embossing process is akin to a chipping process in extra time :p

I called this morning to change some flights I couldn’t do online and also asked about my card, there’s a note in the system about the delays, and the agent was able to tell me my pack would be sent on the 21st… so it’s not even been sent yet. That’s roughly 3 weeks since I qualified for them to get round to sending out my card.

I hope I have it in time for the Anytime Access Do, but I’m not going to need it anyway, in light of being guested in.

I just received my PS pack in the mail, so that was about 2 months. Hopefully the SG pack won't take that long...

Sorry to sound stupid, but I'm hopefully about to tick over to Silver in the next few weeks (sorry not familiar with all the abbreviations yet.. give me time) just before the cut of of 28 Feb.. I'm also a Qantas Club member.. Do i get a silver card / baggage tag? For some reason in the Qantas Club page there isn't a silver card shown.. I'm confused.. Anyone enlighten me?

You will get a Silver card, 2 bag tags and a voucher for 1 free entry to the Qantas Club, which you obviously wont need, but anyone with membership can use, so that’s friends and family, whoever you choose. It’ll have an expiry date.

However, don’t expect to receive the new card particularly fast, as this thread suggests ;)

Excellent (i'm glad i'm amongst people who also think its cool to get a different colour frequent flyer card - my partner thinks I'm nuts to get excited about status credits.. LOL). If i give the free entry card to a friend, can they bring a guest in too? Might be handy for our trip later this year.

The free entry is for one person only, no guest.

The good news (for me at least) is that my SG card and baggage tags were awaiting me when I arrived home this afternoon. That is pretty much exactly 5 weeks since my qualification on Saturday 11 December 2010.

I hope that everybody else waiting on their new cards and tags gets their packages quickly.

I didn't have to make a phone call after all!

Guess what was in my mailbox this afternoon. Two packs in two days, not a bad effort. Still makes about 5 weeks from qualifying SG to receiving the pack, seems to be about average.

Well called QF myself. Qual PS at end of November, new pack still not received despite being dispatched Mid-December. QFF have asked for it to be re-issued.

Not the best thing to happen, but considering they're also trying to dispatch all the NGCI packs then I can understand delays and issues.

It took QF exactly 7 weeks to deliver my SG package, just in time for my status match with BD ;)

I also called QF after waiting from Nov to Jan to receive my PS pack, they apologized and said it must have got lost in the mail and requested a new one.

It then turned up...the next day.

Now 4 weeks later a second pack turns up with tags, card and lounge pass...thanks QF!
