Disposables such as toiletries ok to nick?

What's not?

Things that are screwed down?

I guess anything you COULD consumer while staying. Free water/drinks, toiletries. Im OK if there is a free minibar and you take items with you instead of drinking there. They've been offered, the cost is factored in. And its a matter of scale- how many $100 a night rooms allow you free minibar?

It was a place called Clifford Resort I think. Seriously challenged in the geography dept I am so prepared to be way wrong.
And reading some of the other posts I remember I 'May" have nicked two beach/pool towels from Mirage at Port Douglas when it first opened.......they were divine and I am pleased to say lasted well for about ten years.

At my hotel right now, photos attached are what I'm allowed.

Don't know why, but the pictures are being attached sideways! On my phone, they are normal viewing.

I take the toiletries (give them to local womens shelters), keep the sewing kits (they're bloody handy).

Usually leave the pens but keep the notepads (I write a lot).

And once or twice we've taken towels. Sounds shady.. okay it is. They were needed during the day.... Every now and then at my parents place I'll pull out a hotel towel accidently from the linen closet.

Otherwise I try to just make sure I take everything I brought in.

I have one hotel pool. In my defense it was needed during the day as well, and had a large hole in it so I figured they'd throw it out anyway...

We clean up each day (thrown into a bag when on multi-day stays): Shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, body lotion, razors and shave cream, toothbrush inc paste, shower caps (as they often have hair ties in them), the slippers, water each day.

Then on occasion we take: the sewing kit, pen (great for using on the plan on the way home for immigration card (then leave it on plane).

At home I have a box of little toothpastes (from the hotels and airline amenity bags) & shavers + cream and all the above shampoo / conditioner / gel, toothbrushes.
We haven't purchased any of that stuff for about 6 yrs.

The Mrs has a huge supply of the little body lotions and mix-&-matches each day (combined with airline supplied). She enjoys the different smells and finds it fun.

The toothbrushes means we each replace one about every 2 weeks as we have so many. They also get used to (try to) clean the dogs teeth and general house cleaning into tight places (great for dishwasher fine mesh scrub).

Oh and laundry bags ... the cloth ones ... we have a stack of them that get used for shoes.

Slippers ... great for around the home on timber floors + for guests ... and for flying (no need to re-shoe up for the toilet).

Then when we get a big stash of surplus, we bundle them up and take them to the local nursing home usually close to Xmas time.
The residents love it all, especially the slippers. They also use the toothbrushes to clean false teeth with. The fancy shampoo + conditioner is then given to the hairdresser that comes in and and used on each of them over Xmas & New Year.

What we don't take: Toilet paper (don't be that cheap to take the bog paper), tissues, towels, sheets or anything that really shouldn't be. We only take 'consumables' vs anything re-usable. And with 99% HLO you need need to pick the right things to take (quality vs quantity).

Unsure on what to do with half our stash from our current hotel (with another 2 room service replacements of fridge and bathroom).

Many bottles of water, beer..

Regarding the beer, safe to travel home with upto 15 or so 355ml glass bottles?

Customs rules, big chance of damage? (Bubble wrapped!)

You are not serious???

Bloody Oath I'm serious! Included in the room rate, free to use/take (refer to hotel info pictures at #45).

Might need to drink some of the beer (not usually a beer drinker, but on trips I can be!).

Have another 2 nights of stash work to do yet!

Still laughing here! :)

So you are not even a beer drinker but you would still carry 15 bottles of beer around the world in your suitcase?!

Okay, I'm not a beer drinker either, so wouldn't carry one bottle anywhere, for any reason I can think of, let alone packed in my suitcase for airline check in. I guess it's another case of what you see depends on where you sit.

Still can't get my head around the benefit, though. :)

Family, friends, co workers, sport club drinkers.

Many others are beer drinkers, so why not provide for free. :)

I don't think it would cost more than $50 to buy all that stuff in Australia. Seems to me to be a lot of effort and bother for a few items.

You're right. Go along to Coles and pick up booze next door at LiquorLand

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

$50 more then I'm prepared to spend.

Sorry to the folks who don't agree, but when an offer is valid, why refuse?

But isn't it an offer assuming it is for your own personal use?
