Last question Did you get the 15% discount? and if so what did you say for them to give it to you? Thinking I might make some changes and just go with KF

They actually said that I would get it before I mentioned it Because I wanted the stopover, and you can't book stopovers online they give you the discount automatically. No harm in mentioning it though.

Cruiser Elite has a post which gives u step by step suggestions, I'll find it later when I get home. However I recall saying "could I also get the 15% discount as I couldn't book online". The discount was applied without any questions asked.

SQ/KF will always honour the 15% discount for any booking that cannot be made online - it is standard in-house policy. Just a simple straight forward approach should get you the result you want:

'This is what I would like to achieve and as I cannot book this online my understanding is that I am still eligible for the 15% discount'.

Never forget that the SQ/KF agent is always your best friend - their sole job is to satisy your reqs if possible - but sometimes they just cannot achieve the end result some of us seek - so always treat them with the respect they deserve.

Indeed SQ/KF call ctr reps have personally told me that they do cop some serious abuse from customers much more regularly than you would believe.

So called the partner redemption team 3 times, each time I even hinted at a stopover I was shutdown instantly. Can not be done for any reason or any price. So change of tack I'll fly from YVR to LAX somehow and then go SQ from LAX, called KF about SQ flights yep stop over was no problem, just give me the dates. At the end she asked if had tried to book this online and got an error I was no as I wanted a stopover I just called direct "Are you sure you did not try online and get an error???" ow yep ok I see the game, why yes I did. Ok I will give you the online discount as you got an error trying to booked online. Best thing.... no $100 stopover fee, although I must say KF tax's and surcharges and well as infant fee are hard to take.

Well done - first time I have heard of this - will try that on myself next time. As I have posted 100 times KF call ctr staff are always your best friends. As for their fares / taxes / charges YES they are not the cheapest - but then again IIRC a Rolls Royce is priced substantially above a Skoda is it not?

I must admit I am still to experience SQ in all its glory, I have had a regional flight from Vietnam to Singapore and it was nothing to write about at all. I just did a return BNE to PER trip with VA and wow it was just fantastic so off the experiences I have had it's hard to see the value add for 170,000 KF (More with the VA transfer) and $2400 add in Tax’s, Surcharges and infant fees vs. 188,000 and $263 in tax's no infant fee or surcharge. However I want to stop over in Tokyo and SQ seems the go for that!

Over to LAX on the 21/12/15 then LAX to NRT 11/01/16 and NRT to SYD on the 18/01/16. Taking little Eggs to see her Great Grandfather for Christmas in Ottawa then some skiing in Yancouver and Tokyo for me!

It was meant to just be a Christmas trip for Little Eggs to see Great Grandpa before it's too late and it's just grown into an amazing trip!
