Strategy to obtain US Amex

Yes, very annoying. I’ve had that happen quite a few times. I kept changing browsers and even used a VPN. I can’t recall how I got it to bring up the pre-filled screen, but success eventually.

With my first card application by GT (two years ago) there weren’t any website issues. However, with both of the next two GT applications it seemed to take multiple attempts, over days, before the correct web-page came up. I would leave it for a day or so, and try again. The correct page would appear momentarily, but then change to another page (that needed a SSN). Not real sure what was going on. Perhaps a cookies issue.
Interesting. Would be good to know how it worked out in the end.

Mine wasn’t a GT though as I was applying through a targeted referral link. When trying to use GT, it linked me to an error page.

Applied the Hilton No Annual Fee card just inside 3 months after the Aspire. Instant Approval within 30 seconds.
I guess u have a ITIN or SSN. For me also it is instant approval since I have SSN but my Mrs, I had to do it over the phone for her second app since her application got rejected. The app was done as a new user without logging into her Amex account as I could tick she does not have a SSN

How long are people usually waiting between GT card 1 and 2?
My first GT was about 14 months prior, but latest application is through a targeted referral link and not GT. Probably would not wait that long for the next card.

Looking to get an ITIN, and that’ll hopefully open more doors, perhaps a cap1 card if the SUB goes up.

Ah, I don't have an ITIN. It was a 2nd global transfer with my Amex AU account. Switched over to the US version of the site and there was a pop up about my Aussie Amex credit history again. Used Google Chrome.

I am not sure whats the matter with my Mrs application, the credit file does not flow through properly. Her application got rejected the first time and I kept quiet for 3 months. I tried again and it got rejected because of the issue with her credit file, at which point we called Amex Sales that did a new application I think or continued on the old application. The sales person transfered her to the credit person who asked her for the address and her application was approved for the Green card. Bizzarely the Marriott Bonvoy (first GT) went smoothly. If her Hilton card goes smoothly, I think the checks for Charge cards are more rigorus compared to non charge cards.

Just applied for the Mrs card using Apple Safari on Mac in Private mode. Logged into Amex and applied for the Hilton card. It prefilled her details. However, it asked her to call Amex.

Can someone advise what the best number to call Amex to have the replacement card sent directly to Sydney? We spoke to two separate agents and they could not find my wife’s account even though she has been approved and we can see an $8000 limit on the online account. They kept asking for a ssn which we don’t have or a reference number for the application which we never got. They could not locate her account by providing full name and zip code. They could not search through mobile number email address or us address. We have the last 5 digits of the card as it was on the approval email.

I don’t have her card number yet or any reference numbers. It’s been about 15 days since she was approved for the Surpass Card.

Cheers

So it sounds like she has an online account? If so use the chat function and don't bother calling. Say that you're currently traveling and would like to receive your card asap.

I used this number to speak with the card replacement team last month: +1 (888) 213-4286

If they ask for your SSN, then say that you do not have one yet, and that the application was done through Global Transfer.

Also, my original Surpass card sat at the Postal Service facility in Sarasota for over two weeks and Amex could see this through USPS tracking. I could see this as well. Eventually, the card was received at MyUS, but by then I had already received the replacement in Oz.

Thank you. I will try this number if the live chat function fails.

By the way, I use my US phone number (TextNow) when calling Amex. They can see the caller ID. They may, or may not, send a code by text to that number which you read back to them.

That’s the beauty of Amex whereas Citi and Chase need a postpaid number for Id validation. However two factor authentication works fine with Google voice

Live chat should work. Just type in ship card to different address or something.

I just tried, unfortunately got quoted the 10 business days from card approval. Unfortunately couldn’t get them to budge. They did suggest calling the number that DC3 provided to see if there are alternative options.

But seeing as your card was approved more than that duration ago, live chat should work for you.

Has anyone got any experience in changing the mobile number tagged to the Amex account? Is there any further verifications required or will they call you etc.?

Has the first card been delivered? It's definitey odd that my card was re-issued but they gave you the 10 business day limitation.

Yeah it has. I got the your card has been delivered email. Yeah odd that you got a different response. Oh well, I might try calling the number provided if not wait for the 10 days.

It did just show up in MyUS account, so debating whether to spend and get it sent that way.
