Strategy to obtain US Amex

The SSN lasts for life.
Great. What do people usually use to check their credit scores without an actual credit enquiry? I would like to check if I have any existing score from my time spent in the USA back in 2005 / 2006. Is Experian a free one that people use?

Following along as my wife has a SSN from her time working in the states, 2008.

All three credit agencies allow you to check your report with them for free. Recommend using a VPN before accessing their websites as they don't like overseas IPs. Can also use third party websites like MyFICO, CreditKarma, etc to get free access to different credit reports.

As an update, faxed those bank statements through to Chase, used my Wise bank statements.

For a while the automated status number gave me a 2 week update period. However, in the last couple of days, it’s reverted to a 7-10 days update period. Looks like another call is on the cards.

FYI the chase McDonalds statement credit works in oz . The entertainment app may work as well .

I hardly checked Chase statement credits. Just did and there are some good ones ie 10% back Iherb ,10% back any Bonvoy brands. Need to check it more often now.

Hi,
For those of you approved for the 2nd Amex GT via AU log-in (without SSN or ITIN)
For application, do you apply just as it's your 1st GT application? (entering passport as an ID etc)
Once approved, do you have to create a new account log-in ID?

Thanks

Apply as per a normal GT

Use the exiting account

For those who receive the 1042-S form for the minimal US income relating to sign up bonus and interest on saving account, is there anything we can do to pay those few dollars of taxes without a SSN or ITIN?

I remember earlier in the thread people said you cannot obtain an ITIN using the 1042-S form if the tax is only a few dollars, but it isn't possible to pay US tax without a SSN or ITIN.

I believe the interest needs to be at least $10 .

Yes, you can open a HSBC US account if you are a HSBC Premier customer without any SSN/ITIN.

Not true about the $10 limit, I received a 1042-S form for a total interest of $1.....

successfully approved for my 3rd GT!

Green card stuck in USPS black hole en route to MyUS, unsurprising as my sub doesn't include mail.

Three business days after scheduled delivery date I used live chat to request redelivery to my Australian address. They verified my ID using 3 digit code from another Amex US card, then processed the request.

Replacement card(s) delivered by USPS will arrive in a white envelope displaying Amex Blue Box logo. If not delivered by USPS, it will be delivered in respective courier’s envelope for UPS, DHL, or FedEx.
Expect email and mobile app notifications (if applicable) regarding the delivery status.

Since you're a valued card member, I am sending the new card via DHL delivery at no cost. The card would be delivered to you by xx-Jun-2023.

Earlier in the week I was able to connect digital card to my PayPal and Amazon accounts via Amex US mobile app, and have already been spending on it there, wasn't able to set up Google Pay though.

Does anyone know if you can transfer Amex Gateway MR to the UK Amex version, the same way you can with Ascent MR? If I request a transfer, do they combine Gateway and Ascent and send it one batch?

I don't think there is any service within MyUS that actually allows letters to be forwarded

I was lucky enough to be offered the legacy MyUS premium+mail when I queried whether it was possible a couple of years ago. Others on this forum have asked the same question but been told by MyUS that the service is no longer available. I had to complete form 1583 and have it notarised so it was a bit of a process but I think still worth keeping. That said I've still had 3 out of the 4 Amex cards sent to Aus via dhl after the 10 day wait. Opted to have all my postal mail sent with my last card (Upgrade to Hilton Aspire) and all my cards had indeed arrived into my suite via USPS.

Yes . All variants are classed as MR when transferring overseas . Don’t think they will combine . Transfer from ascent to gateway and then transfer .

The Marriott Brilliant Bonvoy increased new sign up bonus
Earn 150,000 Bonus Points $6,000 First 6 months
Plus, Earn 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points after you stay 6 eligible paid nights at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy through 1/31/24. Offer ends 8/9/23.†

I'm tempting to apply for this card, but just got my 1st GT $695 Platinum 3 weeks ago
(no SSN or ITIN)
Any chance they'll let me have 2nd GT via AU log-in within this period?

Thanks
