Strategy to obtain US Amex

Silly question from me in Hindsight. Had a feeling it was. Was kinda hoping it was ICC. I don't think ICC have no Foreign Transaction fees. They're still charging the standard 3%. US Amex is competitive on this front with even Green charge not having those fees.
This thread is how to obtain a US Amex. That is what I was going for. There are heaps more benefits with this card it would take many posts. There is another thread where benefits are discussed.

I just noticed you can transfer the membership reward points from Aust to US card according to this:

Have anyone have done this before? Is it a 1:1 transfer and is it something we can call up and do regularly?

Yes you can . The conversion rate is linked to the forex rate .

My New Amex Centurion card has reached its mail forwarding address. Today I have made a 33 USD dollar 3-4 day DSL inclusive of GST services and should be in OZ soon. I paid extra 3 USD to have it in OZ max 4 days. Otherwise, Australia Post in Australia takes forever.

Im still waiting mine to show up in MYUS suite, its being delivered to them 8 days ago according to fedex tracking, starting to causing bit of anxiety here, should I be worried?

Yep write to them with tracking details and follow up with a phone call. Looks like they may have got the address but the suite number sometimes is missed and they won't have any idea who it belongs too.

I'm planning to apply for the amex green card but have been reading some mixed comments regarding MyUS. Just want to confrim the following before I apply.

From what I know Amex sends a letter with no tracking for the AMEX Green card?
The free myus account will not accept letters and therefore will require the premium sub? (I'm reading mixed comments about this, the people that applied for the aspire came in a package so it was accepted with a free account?)
Will need to provide a 1583 form to have letter released?

Anyone have other shipping forwarding company recommendations for letters that will not require the 1583 form?

Thanks

I have mail included with my MyUS subscription but my Green Amex never showed up. I called Amex and asked them to reissue it to me in Australia as I was ‘traveling’ so not at Florida at the time and they sent it to me in SYD.

I did get the Bonvoy Amex before it and it showed up at MyUS though was missing suite number so they almost sent it back as rejected mail.

right on it

Hi all, I have a Hilton Aspire card, only used in January this year, paid off using XE and ended up with a $20 credit on account. Left it there for more than 3 months and Amex has ended up sending a cheque out without tracking (CS on livechat says its automatic/mandatory) to my mailing address, which is still MYUS in Sarasota.

My Suite in MYUS doesn't show it, so probably in Lost and Found just like when sending out the initial card package.

Livechat says cannot cancel cheque and put it back as a credit so I'll have to contact MYUS to locate the mail with the cheque. I don't have a US bank account, and very unlikely to travel there anytime soon... so a cheque is pretty much useless at this stage...? Any suggestions/advice on this? Or just let the US$20 go?

Also, to change the address to Australian address, can it be done online Account Services, Live Chat or must it via phone call?

When dealing with MYUS should we tell them that, this is a credit card or they are already know?

Hi all, I have a Hilton Aspire card,
Sorry I can't offer you a solution to your situation, I'm still in early stage in this puzzle. My Hilton Aspire card is stuck with MYUS at the moment, Apparently it came to them with incomplete address so they are doing "further review" . Is this happened to you as well? how did you go thanks

I suggest you look back at earlier posts on how MYUS can retrieve the mail. Its in their "Lost and Found", which my $20 cheque is probably the same situation now.

I finally put in my application. At the confrim details are correct page, I click no, since the address didn't include the suite no. from myUS. After I clicked no, the page didn't go back to allow me to edit the address. But went to this messaged instead:

"Thanks. We've received your application, but we can't give you a decision right now.
We'll process your application as soon as possible and send you a decision within 14 days."

I also received a email, requesting for further documentation (didn't specify what) and asking to call them back. US office isn't opened yet and the automated phone system couldn't find my application.

Anyone received similar? This isn't looking good right now.

Did you apply via global transfer? It seems like you applied via the normal channel and Amex can't find your US credit report.

Have you tried to apply online, since then (i.e., an hour or so, later) to see if their system will let you back in to do another fresh application?

Also, have a read of my post # 493. I tried something slightly different for the address, using Apt instead of Ste, and also including the Apt # in the first box: “4283 Express Lane, Apt xx_x-xx_”, as well as “Apt xx_x-xx_” in the adjoining Ste box. It worked for me, including being allocated correctly by MyUS. However, someone said that this method didn’t work for them. You may want to try it, or you may not. And, there may be a random issue with addresses anyway?

Also, I used my passport for ID.

I applied through this link here and used my australia amex login for them to grab the details:

The page also told me not to try submit another application while they are reviewing this one. Used my australian passport as well. Weird becuase I didn't actually submit the application. It asked to confirm if details are correct and I clicked no, then it just went ahead anyway.

Also read your apt post, I didn't think it will make a difference since there are mixed reports regarding using APT in this thread.

Called up and card got approved on the spot. They didn't even need anything. Just confirmed my details were correct and then approved.

Now just the MyUs part left.
