Strategy to obtain US Amex

You can use Pay Bills from pretty much any bank to pay. I have been using Citi/Cap1 to pay off P2's cards.
Hi Finale,

Have you had problems with Citi locking your checking account and credit card ?
From what i read online, many people complain about Citi's fraud detection system being too sensitive (And also their customer service / procedures suck)

Do not add Citi credit cards to Apple Pay. Instant fraud lock.

And slowly build up spend on the card otherwise you'll get lots of fraud locks. My Citi cards are now very well seasoned and seem to take a beating without problem — put $26K on one yesterday and it didn't miss a beat.

Phew ! Great to hear that :D
If you don't mind me asking, which Citi card/s do you have ?
Thanks in advance.

I have had Citi cards for over 8 years and never had any issue with both checking account and credit cards.

Maybe it's different now according to levelnine. I added my Prestige card to both my phone and P2's phone last year with no issue (Google Wallet). Sometimes we use the card almost the same time in different countries. They wanted P2 to call when adding Premier's additional card though.

That’s only when the card is new .

CS of chase advised me not to use Apple Pay for a new card as well .
I have Citi premier .

I have just noticed my Equifax code credit account. Has been locked and they have asked me to call in . Does anyone know what this may be about ?

Do you have advice on meeting SUB while taking it slow? How to meet e.g. 8k USD spend in 3 months if any transaction over X gets flagged.

I triggered an HSBC fraud review but clearing it was literally a 5 minute chat (with 30min wait time to get an agent). Cant imagine Cap1 or Citi being that easy.

It's only $88/day, so you can start pretty slow — under $200 and work up to bigger transactions. Just don't start dropping $1K charges on a new card. Citi fraud charges can be a pain to clear in the beginning.

My OH lived in US but left 6 years ago. So she still has an SSN but seems her FICO is now only at 632! Is there any cards she could get now that would help her get it over 700 so she can get an Amex
Cap1 Platinum Card with free AF or 1% cash back is good for building credit history. Do a check on Cap1 for preapproval - they will provide the card that suit.

Thanks for the tip ! I might as well open a Citi checking account when I goto USA in the future.

I have the IHG Chase Card, Amex Aspire, Amex Bonvoy Biz and Amex Bonvoy Personal (old Starwood card). What should be the fifth card in the portfolio? :D

One of the Chase Ink cards that you can make the minimum spend on. There's one that wants $8000 USD/3 months for 120k, one that wants $6000/3 months for 90k and one that is split, the Ink Cash (that was my choice) that gives you 6 months to do $6000 for 75k.

Although I have had the Chase IHG for ~6 months now; is it hard to get approved for Ink cards given that they are business cards?

What’s the process for getting a business card? I have an ABn here but no EIN there
