Strategy to obtain US Amex

thanks I have a friends US address. but no other bank or utility bill. any ideas?
You don't need US bill. The way I got my US Amex is: US address, and US phone number. The only problem is most of US fraud staffs don't familiar with Global transfer. When they froze your card (most likely when you swap more than $100), tell them to do a 3 ways talk with AU Amex to certify your ID. Otherwise the US staff will make you can't stop swearing.

How did you obtain a US phone no and address? can you use virtual ones?
did you do the global transfer over the phone?

I used MyUS the forward address. Speaking with the mobile NO. Ask your us friend to verify Google Mobile NO to your Google account. Done. I applied by logging on my Au account then click US site to apply the card. NOT VIA the phone.Which took me 20+calls to US fix the issue.

Thanks . How recent was your application ? I heard they have recently made it difficult

I got a virtual phone number which helped with the application. When they tried to send me a text to add my card to ApplePay, it didn't come through. I don't know about Google voice but my impression is that if verification text messages don't get through, it will be difficult. I've also tried to get a Google Fi sim but it keeps accepting my order then rejecting it before shipping - even sending it to my US address.

I also have a Citi US CC and this one is registered to my Au address. Recently received a letter they will cancel it and my reward points in July. With the $A falling so much, apart from achieving a US CC, I don't think there's any advantage in earning reward points on the US card if that's the mean reason for having it.

the annual fee on the US platinum charges is less than the Aus one. will that and sign up bonus points make it worthwhile?

Hi All,
I have got a amex delta gold in us via Global Transfer, unfortunately I am about to cancel this card as it did not help me with establishing us credit card (not sure why, but my partner got FICO score 6 months after opening her first us card). I think due to no FICO score, I was unable to get approved for 2nd or 3rd us amex card (every time I apply I get asked for tex return form which I dont have).
I am thinking about cancelling my delta gold card and redo Global transfer again, hopeful this time would help me to establish credit score properly. Anyone know if this is achievable? Thanks.

I was in the US last month and applied for my second Citi card (AA Platinum). 60,000 AA miles for $0 was a great deal and probably cancel after the first year. Applied Friday and approved on Monday.

Looks like things have changed a bit. The banker did an application for me using a normal form on his computer but got stuck at SSN/ITIN. Then another banker told him he had to use a different application form.

This time it was a paper form only which was printed out and I had to fill in the form myself. It was very short anyway. I heard he said it was the form for "Global Client". I also saw the word "Global Client Applicant" on the form the banker had to sign.

The form that I filled had 5 credit cards to choose from.

- Citi Prestige
- Citi Premier
- Citi Rewards
- AA Executive
- AA Platinum

For the documents, they needed

- Passport
- Address verification (They printed my Citi statement)
- Income: The average balance of $2000 past 2 months. (They also printed my statement).

The magic word is "Global Client" I believe.

If one obtains a US Amex does through global transfer does it become easier to obtain other credit cards like Citi etc even if one does not have a US address or income ?

Does your statement with us address or Citi Aus?

If I apply, can I show them my notice of assessment?

I have a Citi Premier card registered with my Australia address after having applied through the Global Client process.

I received a letter recently that it will be closed in July along with forfeiture if in-redeemed points as they’ve decided no longer to deal with customers from my country - Australia. That’s interesting that they’re continuing to approve new applications recently.

My checking account statement has US address. I don't think notice of assessment will work. I think you need to have some money/deposits with them.

I was never allowed to use AU address when applying for a credit card but they used AU address as a residential address and US address for mailing for my checking account.

When I set up some years ago, both checking and credit accounts were linked to Au address.

I guess it might not be possible. You are likely to get your credit score after 6 months. But you still won't have SSN which is required by other banks, eg, Citi, Chase.
