Strategy to obtain US Amex

Is there anything I need to provide and do you have any recommendations as to which bank would be the most non-resident friendly?

Re HSBC, it seems like for those who have never banked with HSBC, you can immediately apply for premier status. However, if you have a profile or have banked with HSBC, it might make things a little bit more difficult. I'm waiting to hear back from the premier connect team regarding the matter.
Would love to know the outcome of this please.

I’ve recently applied for the HSBC premier account through that same link. Account says premier at the moment, as does my debit card. However chat person says have to meet the requirements for 6 months and no RM assigned yet either. So bit confused at the moment.

Edit: also for those who have taken advantage of the arbitrage ability and transferred AUS MR to their US MR accounts have you gotten close to the exchange rate on day points transferred in? I did this recently and my exchange rate was significantly worse than the spot rate.

Will keep you updated. It seems by all indicators, you're a premier but just no RM. Have you tried opening a US premier account?

For those who aren't going to the US or want to jump through hoops for a premier account, you can just open a HSBC US Premier account for $50 USD a month, it's a bit dear but 3 months might help you verify your address and deal with any other needs you might have.

It’s always worse as trabsfer cost is built into exchange rate . So it’s ok for small transfers.

For those who are looking for a US sim card, Amazon AU is offering Free International Delivery from Amazon UK & US with No Minimum Spend for Prime members, I ordered the US Mobile simcard 10 days ago and just got it today, the link:

$11.29 + free shipping (Prime), it is similar to the T-Mobile simcard and I chose the custom plan with 75 min, no text or 50 text, no min, and paying around $1.5-$2 USD / month.

When you register it, do you have to verify your ID? My understanding (which may be mistaken) is that Chase, etc only send txt confirmation to lines that are verified.

No, no ID verification, just need to provide your name, address, and credit card details. I am using T-mobile for my chase card and I have never verified my profile and received the txt confimation from them.

After a month of approval and many call I finally got a chase csr from fraud who agreed / managed to verify me and agree to send my approved csp to australia by ups .
Since I did not receive it at my us , I was trying to get them to send it the my planet express address but they could / did not call on my oz. / t/Mobil no to verify me .
Does anyone know if I can activate it on Apple Wallet before receiving it ?

Didn’t someone have a problem (flagged as potential fraud?) when trying to use Apple Wallet before getting their card awhile back? 🤔

If the card is coming via UPS courier, then it should arrive within the next week I’d expect.

If you already have the Chase app working and the card appears, you might be able to add it directly from the app. I had to call up to remove a block on Apple pay though, presumably because I was trying to initiate the first purchase from overseas.

I have the chase app but I can’t register for a user profile as I don’t have the card number.
How can you register without a debit or credit card number?

Anybody got business platinum? I just took the upgrade offer 140,000 with 10k spend. Any idea on $400 dell credit? It looks like I could buy xbox gift cards, the only GC available. Redeem them in US microsoft account and use it in their store to get Surface stuff when I go to the US. It's pretty much not worth it to buy stuff and send to the mail forwarding company. Over the years I racked up quite a bit in United travel bank and AA gift cards and now this store credit lol No plan to go to the US anytime soon.

I always find it hard to meet the MSR with the high end business cards, so haven't taken up that opportunity. From what I've read, Dell routinely cancel orders for Xbox GCs, so it can be hard to make use of the credit.

Have got one and went down the same path of that of XBox gift cards.

That would be over 6 months, so might be possible for many. Yes, my orders we cancelled multiple times, and had to get in touch with their contact center and they were happy to sort it out eventually.
