Strategy to obtain US Amex

If I’m already Diamond - is it worth getting the Aspire card (I currently have the Surpass). Its a fairly hefty annual fee and nice though the SUB and FNC would be - i don’t know if i need to spend $550 on that right now…..

I think it's a worthy keeper card mainly for the FNC and the credits. You could get 3 nights (1 FNC + 200 credit x2) at Hilton Queenstown or Surfers Paradise if you wanted something local.

I accidentally updated alll addresses on HSBC US Premier to US addresses. They have now asked for a W-8 form to show that I'm not a US person. Has anyone been in a similar position?

Just filled out the forms with required info and will post to US. Have also changed the address's back. Sigh !

Hm just read over it. The forms just ask for the reasons you have (1) US phone number (2) US residency (3) Mailing address. It also asked to send ID showing your foreign address.

It has options for each one.
(1) US Phone Number - Voice over internet provided (calls don't actually originate from US)
(2) Accidentally changed address, was meant to only change mailing address
(3) Mailing Address - Mail forwarded for conveniance

I was going to post the filled out form via mail...unfortunately you can't email it to a department either which is annoying. I got them to update my case notes to say it was an error.

Ah yes forgot about the $200 credit. We are off to WA Maldives in April so its probably worth it for at least 1 year - don’t imagine that will be a cheap trip so the 14x points will be nice!

How did you receive the form? I mistakenly did the same - but have now changed them all back to AU. Haven’t received any form (though not sure if it went to sister in laws in US)

Mine came in the mail last week and the letter was dated 30/08

I did the same early last year to use the statements for proof of address on Chase Card applications. I have received these forms on 2 separate occasions about 12 months apart and ignored them each time. I also managed to add P2 to my US HSBC account as a Joint account holder with not too much difficulty. No questions were asked about my US address, residence status or W8 form.

I’m traveling to the states early next year so was a little worried if anything showed up on my name! Do you think we could just ignore it ?
