Strategy to obtain US Amex

Decided to do 1st GT with hilton honor no annual fee, and then apply amex biz cards after 6 months. After 12 month, start applying for chase, @ 4/24 start applying Chase Ink. Not sure will go as planed but we will see.

If that was to me - no - just applied online. Did the notary thing.

Interestingly I got a w9 form email on one of my HSBC Australian accounts (a family trust account). I’m planning to just ignore…..

My Chase Ink Unlimited should arrive here on Friday. I have a $6000 credit limit and need to buy a new (to me) car. How close to the limit can I push it without triggering a fraud alert? This would be at a car dealership in BNE.Can I get away with $5000-5500 USD as a longterm Chase customer in good standing? Will they question this as a business transaction?

Is this card worth getting despite the 3% FX fee?

Yes for the 90k SUB, 0% interest for the first year and I am using it for partial payment on a car thus avoiding the charges involved with an Aussie car loan. But 90k offer is expiring 7 Nov according to the US blogs.

I applied for a US premier checking account online last night, as advised by the HSBC International Banking phone support, Premier Checking Account | Premium Banking - HSBC Bank USA

I was updated to AU Premier last week, it is noted on the current bank statement. I'm not sure what I did wrong on the application, but was declined through email only 10 minutes after submitting. Any advice on this ?

There is a way online, I forgot what it was, but if you call Premier AU they will walk you through it

My US account appeared automatically (and vice versa) without having to set anything up. I think it's a 'feature' rather than an option - they want you to use their expensive forex feature

I did it once before realising there were significantly cheaper options out there. It is very convenient (instantaneous) however...

Don't forget the 1.5% cashback (in points) which knocks it down to an effective 1.5%.

Re:Amex checking account - I called up and after they spoke to their backend team I was told I can go ahead and open the account and submit a W8-BEN form when asked. The account will only be approved if the documentation requirements are satisfied, as determined by Amex. I was going to go ahead and open the account but the offer has now disappeared. Hoping it returns.
