Strategy to obtain US Amex

Approaching month 12 of the Marriott Bevy and seeing if the base Marriott Bonvoy card would still be an option. I will see how it goes.

I'm okay with the 35k night certificate with no spend requirement as you could use it at a Westin/Marriott/Sheraton here in Australia. $95 annual fee too, not too bad. Ideally the Chase Boundless would be great but no time to go through the ITIN process yet.

Mailing address would do it, but be warned HSBC are pretty trigger happy when it comes to fraud alerts - I couldn't withdraw cash from a HSBC ATM in Bermuda the other day because it blocked me, yet a $7 ATM withdrawal in Sri Lanka was fine. The good thing is that as soon as you verify, it unblocks immediately, but my phone wouldn't roam in Bermuda, so I had to make alternative arrangements.
Got blocked by HSBC fraud as well they are pretty trigger happy as mentioned, called fraud line alert lifted after a few minutes.

Does anyone know if there is a easy way to open any other bank accounts apart from HSBC Premier from AU? Want to have a bit of redundancy in case of issues with HSBC Premier.

Tried opening SoFi with ITIN but got rejected.

First time I'm trying to look at my credit score. First US card opened 7 months ago, 3 months ago received ITIN and linked to Amex.

Both Equifax and Experian prevent me from signing up. After providing my details in the application process, I get a generic error and can't proceed. Does my report not exist yet (e.g., 7 months is too short) or is something else going on? (e.g., Maza put their address as mailing address on my ITIN request form, not sure if that matters at all)

I have tried recently to get them and not easy - best way I have found is to write to them to send you a copy in the post which has worked with TransUnion at least

Experian and TransUnion don’t allow setting up account with ITIN so that won’t work, Equifax does and I have set up mine but can’t see anything on the report with them - still shows a blank score and no cards info despite having two cards with 16 month history - customer service is not very helpful as not answering any info - state no issues and just need to get Amex to report to them - called Amex and they state they have been reporting

Yeah it’s pretty easy, I haven’t had to call them thankfully - once I got wifi calling my US number roamed and I got the SMS, also an email with a link to click to Y/N the transaction, which I’ll bear in mind in future.

Despite Amex’s free credit monitoring not working, the app used to show FICO. After this went, Awardwallet would still pull the FICO from Amex for a while, but it seems to be dead now. It does take 8-9 months to get one, but that was sans SSN/ITIN.

Same here, sent via DHL - had to pick up mine from the DHL depot as it required signature.
That’s interesting, I was point blank told I couldn’t collect from DHL and they had to redeliver (although I think that may have been Amex…?) all from both have come via DHL and were signature required though.

Hi everyone, wondering what you all are doing with referral or how do you maximize your referral. I hardly have anyone to refer to.
There aren't really any tricks. Referrals are useful for Chase if you have a P2 as you can refer back and forth between each other. But for Amex, they're a mixed bag. Referral offers are more likely to lead to pop-up jail and often aren't the highest possible offer, so I don't bother with them with Amex.

One trick I'll add. If you get a very high referral offer on any of your Amex cards, submit it to Frequent Miler when they ask for them on their website (you submit via their Facebook page). If your referral offer is used, you'll easily max out your annual referral cap.

Yes that would be snapped up very fast - pity my referrals are always trash :(

It's going have to be a balance between checking it and making sure you're not getting spammed by the notification. If only there was a way to ping your feed/notification if an admin/mod posts on the page; and not just only friends' notifications. But I could also be silly/blind and not see that option for only alerting certain posts/feeds.
