Strategy to obtain US Amex

New $200 Hilton credit (4*$50) on the Amex Biz Plat. Make sure to enrol first.

The coupon book continues to grow. Now I have something like 15 Hilton credits to liquidate per quarter ugh.
Good pick up thanks! Also have a Surpass credit to use quarterly.

FYI for those trying to use a AMEZ Biz plat Dell credit. They apparently don't allow orders outside of the U.S. or to a mail forwarding address. I've tried with VPN's and contacting their sales team directly without any luck

I had the same issue.

I was able to send to a couple of items to a hotel to the US when I was staying there. Ever since then I have had no issues, but I have only been sending to BGs

Has anyone successfully done either a credit builder loan or a secured credit card to improve their score while waiting out the 12+ months until Chase is available ?

Follow up. I waited over a week to chase them up because of Thanksgiving holidays in case they were backlogged. I did the online chat and presented my case as best I could. US citizen with passport and SSN who travels frequently. Only using the number for banking (true). I couldn't convince them without being physically in the US and they block VPNs. The best I could do is get the details to port the number to another carrier. The number is paid for until May 2025. I won't be communicating with banks until at least March or April by phone. My B of A cards are locked so can't be frauded. I'm not in a hurry to get a new phone carrier especially if it costs money.

I'd consider Tello if I can be sure it works with B of A and Chase text messages.
Just happened to me too. Thanks for the update. Glad to hear they give out the details to port the number to another carrier. I'll be moving this number over to Tello.

I’m using Tello no problems with Amex and HSBC. Been very happy with it for $5 a month - if anyone would like a referral code (we both get $10 tello dollars) then message me :)

I have been a happy Citi customrer since 2014 and finally a nightmare with their infamous IT dept.

I tried to login my online banking and was asked to verify my account by entering the 3 digits at the back of the card. It's the AA card that was just approved last night! 😂 😂:rolleyes:

Spent the last 2 hours talking to 5 people from different departments, techincal, online account, credit card etc and none of them could do anything. Asked CC dept to expedite the card and was told no they couldn't expedite any new cards, only those reported lost, stolen, replacement etc.

Looks like my only option is to wait 7-10 business days. Might be next year until this is sorted considering a holiday season. Need $$ in that checking acc to pay P2' Amex too. So annoying.

Same exp as this

I keep reading about the new Hilton Credit on Plat Biz - but apart form the huge SUB - is there much real benefit for this card for someone not based in the US?

No there isn't. It is the SUB just like most other US cards. You can reduce the AF pretty well with:
- Dell $400: 100% back through BGs
- Airline $200: united travel bank and sold at 85%
- Wireless $120: 100% back with tello
- Hilton $200: should use a good portion, but will need to get creative with this
The AF is only $695

This is coming from someone with 5 in p1 and just got approved for 1 for P2

The SUB is where its at!!

Also you could get targeted for 99 ECs. I was offered spent $4k get 15k points on 99 so that ends up being ~3 US miles per 1AUD which is a no brainer

Would anybody happen to know what the MR transfer rate from the US to Australia is?
I transferred 54,681 AU and got 35,593 US (1.536 rate). That was about 2 weeks ago which is pretty much bang on what the AUD/USD rate was

Oh sorry - you wanted the other way around - i assume the inverse. But there is no logical reason to bring US MR over to AU MR in my opinion

I'm in a bit of a unusual situation. I want Aeroplan points, which transfer 1:1 from Canada, but MR from the US transfer 1:1 to Canada rather than the exchange rate. AU MR transfer to Canada at the exchange rate, so if I can transfer US to AU first then I'll get 40% more Aeroplan points.

I'd be double checking that you can transfer into and out of your AU MR account (ie that this doesn't count as two separate transfers — you're only allowed one per year).

Good catch, I'll make sure to check that too. It would have sucked to have my MR stuck in the least valuable account of all three countries.

Hi all. Received my Chase card, but can't find the option to activate it. Is it ready to use? I check mobile app and online account but can't find the option. Search with Chase account it said your card is ready to use? Should I pay for something in USD before using it locally?

There's a confirm card option in online banking, but it isn't necessary — they come activated. Can't hurt to start with some USD purchases.
