Strategy to obtain US Amex

There's a confirm card option in online banking, but it isn't necessary — they come activated. Can't hurt to start with some USD purchases.
Thank you.

Is there still FNC FOR big spend bonus 15k with Hilton Business please? I been searching within the benefit section and could not see. There is a big bill so hoping to hit that target but can't confirm

Just an update on the Cap1 card. I've received the card, had to call up to activate as I couldn't activate on the app or online.

After that I've been using the card successfully with no issues. Haven't tried to add the card on google pay yet. Probably add it until after I've reach my minimum spend.

Also I've been tracking the rates on the Visa Cap1 card and the average spread against the IBKR rate is about 1.2%. Must higher than the data I have for amex which is about 0.6%. Though the data is still limited right now.

Can Amex offers only be added to one card in US? I saw an offer on both cards. Added to Gold and then went to add to Hilton and it said already added to other card…..

If so - the cost of Cardpointers seems well worth it ad this seems to allow you to add the offers to multiple cards

I have noticed this to. Unlike Australia where can add everywhere it is offered it seems the US offers are "per account" rather than per card on Amex website
Didn't know about Cardpointers

Only found it yesterday. Doing a 7 day trial of the paid one. With the browse extension it lets you add all offers at once to all cards. Very neat

You can buy a lifetime subscription here: Indie App Sales Offer for CardPointers

I made back the fee in about a week. The developer is great. You can also use it for P2's Amex cards under the same subscription.
Yeah I saw that. Tempting. It has been as low as 100 USD before for lifetime m
Do you use it for any AU cards? Or just US?

What sort of offers are worth using in Australia?

So far other than the Dell ones where I've stacked with the Dell credit. I haven't used any offers at all.

Yeah I got it when it was USD100, though I'd still be a buyer at that price.

Don't think it works for AU cards.
CardPointers is 100% worth it. Get the lifetime (I got it during EOY or Black Friday last year)

Depends on if you want to game the offers or not :)

I don't use any of them in Australia. But a lot are useful for MS: Amazon, BestBuy, airlines, hotels, etc etc.

The annual Qantas one would be useful in Australia if you purchase a lot of cash flights.

I got an Halloween special for USD 120 for the lifetime subscription and USD 35 for 1 year subscription. It still works.

Watch out. That link contains your email address. I couldn’t seem to change it to mine

Actually I managed to find the user id in the url string and change to mine and now I can use the 35 1 year or 120 lifetime - thanks!

Anyone had an ITIN from Maza recently (or otherwise)? Do we know if IRS has a backlog/delay?

They are quite responsive when querying but I’m at week 15 now. Still hopeful that it will come through given somebody is clearly still working at Maza.

[td]Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your message. We would like to inform you that, upon reviewing the status of your application, you are currently in week 15 of the process.

It is important to remember that turnaround times for ITINs are relative and depend entirely on the IRS. Although we usually estimate a range of 10 to 15 weeks, the exact time may vary, and in some cases, applications may arrive earlier or, at other times, take a little longer.

Please be assured that we are watching for any updates on your case and will notify you immediately when we have new developments.

Regards
Ashley

DP here for fellow tight-cough...

I missed out on the bargain priced Maza, and couldn't justify spending ~$400 on an agent (and also didn't like the idea of sending copies of my passport etc to a random person on the internet)

I filled out a W7 and 1040NR from the IRS website (declared $85 gambling income).

After receiving confirmation that they would do it (via email) from the Passport Office, I took my passport in and had certified copies made (no appointment required) for free. A surprisingly painless procedure for a government interaction.

I mailed my W7,1040NR and certified passport copy via standard mail (~$4) on 14/10.

The certified copies were returned to my US address on 19/11, and my ITIN arrived there on 27/11

That’s great - you mean the AU Passport office? Did it need to be them specifically or could it be any certifying authority (like a JP)

Assume i could do the same declaring US Bank account interest?
