Strategy to obtain US Amex

I think you always need a proof of US address - i wasn’t asked for a bank account though - this was back in Sept
What proof of address did you provide ?

When I applied back in 2019 proof of address was not required .

That’s a bit inconvenient for me at the moment. I’m in Oz all week.
Was just being factual . Was suggesting maybe a vpn could work .

Has anyone applied for and been approved for a US Amex thrpugh GT lately without being asked for a US bank account or other proof of residence ?
Any hacks ?
Yes, my dad.

They did not request for proof of residence. But they requested for document confirming the name of my Dad and they didn't accept passport. They only accepted statement from a US bank, credit card, utility bill or US govt doc. (I think it could be because my dad's name is a bit unusual).

So essentially no different to the requirements for proof of residence.

I think its pretty random and they may/may not ask depending on whether the system flags anything. (My dad's name only contains 2 letters for first name and last name).

I didn't need to provide any docs when I applied back in 2020.

They also picked up planet express as a MF when I applied for my family member first time around a few months ago .

Tried VPN. That didn’t work - but site came back after an hour or so

Actually for HSBC i didn’t need proof of address - that was for Amex - and I used the HSBC one for that. I set it up first with my AU address. Then I changed billing address over to US address - waited a month for statement to be generated - dnwoloaded the PDF and uploaded to Amex.

I might need to change from using a family members address to a MF - if my accounts are already set up with Amex etc. should I foresee any issues?

If I m not mistaken MF should work once the initial is approved and established . Just not for a fresh application for a first card .

I'm slowly working through these steps....have opened a US HSBC acct, changed my mailing address to a US one. Will TF some money in tonight to generate an estatement in a month's time, then will set up a US mobile number....I will then appy for a US Amex via Global Transfer.

That’s the way. If you need a referral code for tello (which works perfectly for HSBC and Amex OTP) send me a dm

Apologies if this has already been addressed—I’ve tried searching the thread but couldn’t find a clear answer. For those with an HSBC US account and Premier status in Australia, does the $50 US monthly fee get waived? There is report of people saying yes and others saying no. Does anyone have personal experience with this? Or do the qualifying investments need to be U.S.-based for the fee waiver?

I hate to say this but I already have DM you and you have replied with said referral code! ;)
