Strategy to obtain US Amex

Interesting how random the address verification requirement is for a GT...

With my GT last year, they initially asked for it, then with HUCA, just verified my Aus card number and approved it.

With my wife's first GT they haven't budged with repeated HUCA

I uploaded an interim banking statement hoping that was enough (about 7 days), but they have not budged on their 25 day requirement

Am I better off waiting until this GT application expires and starting again, or should I try and upload another bank statement once a full statement is issued ?
I never got asked for address verification even though I had done my homework....opened a US HSBC Premier Acct....then changed my mailing address to the US one, then waited a month to get a bank statement with the US address.....then never got asked for address verification! Then I got a letter from HSBC asking me to fill out a form declaring I was not a US resident for US tax purposes!

I would wait and then submit the full bank statement.

Similar thing happened with me trying to go through Nova, tried HUCA couldn't them to move on the 25 day requirement, left the application for a few days and suddenly approval came through.

Just upload documents and leave it be for a few days, sometimes less taking is more helpful with these US banks IMO.

Probably just wait. I think the application remains open for 60 days anyhow

For those who have opened checking accounts with cash offers, how have you successfully done the 2 required deposits ?

C1 emailed me an offer, but it specifically says “Wire transfers, ACH credits, and funds transfers initiated using Capital One’s website or mobile app are not considered a Qualifying Direct Deposit”

Agree with that. 😉
Hmm

As part of setting up the C1 checking account, it asks
"Have you been notified by the IRS that you're subject to backup withholding"

(No)

"Here is the W-9 form that we generated based on your responses
Under the penalties of perjury, I certify that:
...
3. I am a US citizen or other US person and
..."

I presume this is a dead end, and most of these accounts can thus only be opened in branch ?

This was despite the previous questions including asking my citizenship which I answered as Australian
