Did you feedback and what was the response?

Unfortunately, no. I did intend to, but life got in the way. By the time I got my head above water, I figured it was a bit late.

did Rex not have a flight you could have hopped on to WGA?)

Yep, Rex did have their last flight of the day that left at 19:00 (Rex and QF basically fly at the same times to/from WGA), but by then it was too late to get on it as well.

Re: Stripped of 2 boarding passes, Lied to and downgraded to Economy! All in one nigh

We purposely travel without checking in bags unless we feel like a closet upgrade, which is when we check luggage through Hethrow so they can lose it and claim insurance. So no bags checked this trip

Whilst the international from Honiara (Solomon Islands) was running 30 minutes late, we still had 60 minutes to transfer International to Domestic and we checked into the Virgin transfer desk at International where they processed the onwards boarding passes and gave us transfer tickets, so they should have known we were on our way.

The main issue is that the Transfer Desk checked them in and issued them with boarding passes. If they were expected not to make the flight, they shouldnt have been given boarding passes.

They had no baggage and thus should not have been offloaded until boarding is complete and the flight has closed.

I missed the fact they had carry on only. I assumed that if they'd gone to the transfer desk they must've been dropping off bags & thought they may have got their boarding passes for BNE/MEL in HIR.

I still don't see how the OP is at fault. They went through the transfer desk as has been stated.

I don't think it's the OP's fault as IMO offloading pax at minus 15 is a tad early particularly when other pax are still boarding. Once everyone else has boarded you would have a closer look but you would hope that before anyone is bumped that they look at the time the pax was checked in or even call the pax on their mobile.

I don't know how easy it is for VA staff to access the mobile number from the pax profile & whether the mobile number is actually visible in the checkin/boarding system or only in the reservations system which gate staff may not be able to access.

I would expect DJ managment at BNE have taken this case as an opportunity for re-education of its staff ... so in the short term at least such an event is somewhat less likely to happen.
Let's hope VA have indeed learnt something from this experience and we do not hear of these type of events.

For a company that it trying to win business it certainly is making a lot of "simple mistakes" that should not be happening....

But are they making any more (or less) than Qantas :?:

hard to quantify "more" or "less" ... By event or by a percentage?

I have the impression such is less likely to happen with Qantas due to more rigid controls and better integration of systems.

I think markis10 is very likely to have pointed to the specific problem in BNE.
