Struggling to get Finnair status credits posted

As a data point: I just had a 7 day turnaround for AY flights.

I had one (AA codeshare JFK-DUB) rejected as “ineligible”, which is clearly nonsense. (I read somewhere QF sometimes thinks it is a charter flight, which most definitely was not.) I’ll follow that up when I get some time.

I'm still waiting on points from an AY flight a month ago. Submitted missing points claim online last week but rejected as "“UNSUCCESSFUL - CLASS NOT VALID FOR ACCRUAL". Phoned up and got told that message would only appear if the flight was indeed not eligible. I explained that in fact this happens all of the time when flights are actually eligible, but the agent didn't really seem interested. I have now emailed by BP. I realise that the problem here may lie with the partner rather than QF, but it's a bit frustrating to say the least that QF won't even acknowledge that there is a problem.

What fare bucket were you booked into? I've had this response on a MH Z class claim previously. Had to link QFF to their own partner earning table showing Z was eligible for SC.

D. Which I gather is a standard paid business class fare bucket.

After I badgered QFF to double check – and sent the earning table, and that my fare was in L class which should have earned – I was sent this back. Any ideas on how to push back? AY4022 is a codeshared American flight from JFK-DUB...

Thank you for contacting the Qantas Frequent Flyer Service Centre.

After reviewing the flight once again, we regret to inform you that AY4022 is a marketed charter flight.
We will be unable to credit points and status credits for a chartered flight number.

Respond to explain it is not a marketed charter flight, it is a codeshare operated by American Airlines, AA290.

The partner airline earning table for Finnair states:

Qantas Points and Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes, except on Finnair codeshare flights operated by an airline other than Qantas or a oneworld alliance airline.

You are definitely entitled to SC. Ask them to escalate the claim.

I personally would try ringing QF, though if that does not work maybe asking AY whether they could send a letter to you saying AY4022 is an actual flight (given I can google it and get JFK-DUB I’m thinking QF aren’t bothering to even investigate)

Apparently there is a list of eligible flights, and this one isn't on it. So they assume it's a charter. I asked to escalate it and he said it had to go to a different team and would take 10-14 working days. So, I'll set a reminder and call back then, I guess? I can't imagine HUACA will work...?

Apparently there is a list of eligible flights

Did you ask if AA290 was on that list by any chance?

I think it's worth HUACA but that's just me.

After four phone calls and lots of emails back and forth where Qantas kept insisting it was a charter flight, it was a letter from Finnair saying it wasn't a charter flight that finally got my status credits posted.

Even then, they insisted on only posting the AA290 flight and not the AY. Because they still insisted it was a charter flight. Round and round in circles.

I think they gave me the status credits just to shut me up in the end, not because they believed I was eligible.

Just absurd. But the outcome I wanted, so I move on...

Well done for persisting.

I'd rather the AA290 than the AY4022... posting as AA gets you an elite bonus whereas AY does not.
