Stuffed up! Haneda - Narita transfer

Argh, I have just realised I booked reward flights that arrive into Haneda and depart Narita. I'm not sure why it wasn't flagged more on the Qantas website when I booked, but i should have double checked. I'm just glad I found out now and not just before my flight.

So I have F reward CDG - Haneda, arriving at 13.55 and then J reward Narita - Melbourne, departing at 18.20. Flights are for July next year. A very cursory google reveals it would take about 2 hours to transfer between the two. Have I got enough time or should I start looking (and praying!) to find an alternative reward redemption home.

You'll be fine, I've done a 4.5hr transfer from Narita to Haneda a few years ago. I took one of the limousine buses that goes via Haneda and had plenty of time spare.

I agree that you should have enough time to transfer - it’s very annoying I’m sure but you should be fine on the day, barring any really significant delays arriving in Haneda.

The only issue is whether any of these Reward flights are codeshare?
What airline?
Reward flights are almost always native flight numbers. Only a very few limited rewards on code shares (~pacific islands)
Anyway what difference would it make?

I second all the comments that you'll be fine.

Take the limousine bus transfer, you can pre-buy the ticket if it makes you feel less stressed but it isn't usually full. At that time of day I'd be surprised if it takes you more than an hour. It's a very easy trip and I find it quite relaxing.

Enjoy :)

At the moment the Terminal 3 limousine buses only leave at 14:40, which you’d be lucky to make, or 16:10, which would be too late. So you’d have to make a quick transfer to one of the other two terminals to get the more frequent limousine bus. Or just book a car transfer to NRT, which is what I’d do if stuck with that transfer.

I personally wouldn’t risk it, though. I flew JL46 CDG-HND on Friday, arrived about 20 minutes early, was in a taxi within 30 minutes, and home in Shibuya only just over an hour after landing. But the same flight arrived three hours late the day before. So a 50:50 chance if you just looked at those two days.

You’d be looked after in the event of a misconnect, though, so I guess you could take the risk if you’re not in a particular hurry to get home.

4 hours is more then enough to transfer between HND and NRT. I've done it in an hour during the morning travel peak. Just get the airport limousine bus. The driver monitors traffic conditions and changes the route used and uses alternate roads to avoid any traffic problems.

The HND-NRT bus is timetabled for 90 mins, but it can be done in as little as 45 minutes depending on traffic and route used.

There is also a direct train option, but it isn't as frequent as the bus and is much slower (uses normal local trains via the Keikyu, Toei Asakusa and Keisei lines)

They can take the monorail or train to T2/1 and get the next ones if they miss it. It'll be fine.

Or there are free inter terminal shuttle buses that run constantly at Haneda between all the terminals. Easy to find - just follow the signs after you arrive.
