Stupid Question - Platinum v Platinum Elite

Apologies for this really dumb question but is there a difference between Platinum and Platinum Elite?

If so, what are the benefits of just Platinum (I can see the benefits of Platinum Elite only)?

I logged into my IHG account and for some reason I'm Platinum when I hardly stay at IHG hotels. Not sure what's going on.

Platinum and Platinum Elite are the same thing. Elite is a term they use to join Gold and Platinum tiers for certain benefits.

Yep. Mostly. IC has their own loyalty scheme (ambassador/ Royal Ambassador) which they use to provide extra benefits.

But some of the benefits of platinum are carried over to IC stays.
