Another Qantas IT enhancement never tested before going live.
You hit update?
Yes. When you do that the message pops up. Perhaps it is only for long-haul. A Tasman trip does not count. You hit update?
Just press “Continue” (not update). You’ll then get the payment page for zero points + cash offer.Yes. When you do that the message pops up. Perhaps it is only for long-haul. A Tasman trip does not count.

I do think this might change slowly, but I am seeing this more and more hence my thread about points being devalued, as there was a point where I could not upgrade despite many, many flights.I was invited to make a bid
Interesting figures the same for points but add $80

I ended up with a classic upgrade instead same points no cash
J class fare saving $2,163
the business cabin is FULL
Except “Bid now upgrades” (regardless of the amount points or $s bid) are processed *after* all classic upgrade requests from CL down to NB.I do think this might change slowly, but I am seeing this more and more hence my thread about points being devalued, as there was a point where I could not upgrade despite many, many flights.
This could mean, if you want to bid with points, the minimum is 3,600 points.
Should be “Yes”. As per my comment above. Click “Continue” not “Update”.This could mean, if you want to bid with points, the minimum is 3,600 points.
If you wish to use cash, you can ignore the first sentence and use 0 points.
Could you hit submit with 0 points and $130 cash?
And yet I’m being spammed nearly every flight…..There is/was another thread but it was pretty quiet. Basically the points upgrades get processed first.
It's not bad value, but depending on how 'points rich' you are, you could submit a Classic Upgrade Award request and you get higher priority when it comes to who gets it. Discount Y to J CBR-ADL would be 19,000 points (as you noted for the return leg), so would come down to how easily you earn your points and what you would value 9,000 points at, vs stumping up that $250 offered co-pay amount.I’ve used bid-now quite a few times. Usually goes ok for me. No idea if gold makes a diff. I usually do it on flights I don’t care either way, so I bid low and happy to miss out. Then happy if it gets up!
Last week did CBR-ADL, plus partner. $1k+ Each for biz fares. I bought Econ for $175, then $250+10k points each for “mid to low” chance of success, but it got accepted. I waited until 3d before, suggesting they still had seats vacant. I know some think it’s not worth it, but I was fine with that result. Return trip I put in an upgrade request (not the bid system). Was 19k points fixed amount and no money and got accepted.
So, will let others decide what was better value
I think much of a muchness. And it gets my points used.
Unless I’m mistaken, that’s the first Bid “Success” post since May 2021.I was happy to get a $200, 0 point upgrade on an A330 MEL-SYD today.
Happy to be a data point for the team!Unless I’m mistaken, that’s the first Bid “Success” post since May 2021.
There‘s been plenty of points successes over on the other thread in the meantime.
