Suggestion for New Credit Card

I don't see them as mutually exclusive, I have a NAB twin card for where Amex is not accepted or there is no bonus.

I am retired these days and my corporate travel is behind me, so a little(lot) more thought is required about Credit cards. Just advised by citi cards, that BPAY is no longer an acceptable method to earn QFF points from May 1. This has made me look at the whole credit card issue.

So, Usually, when I buy on-line tickets at the Qantas site, the FF points and SC get credited to my account when I travel. AND in the past, when I paid my credit card (house hold expenses, including travel)via BPAY each month, I also received QFF points for the card spend. It seems from a few emails between me and citicard, monthly payments of any sort no longer attract QFF points. Looking at my QFF statement, I see I have been earning points via:
Actual flights
Banking(my monthly card payments)
Telephone(seems Optus must be considered special)

if I can't earn QFF points by paying the card each month, then how does the so called FF Credit Card still provide FF points? Do I have to use special vendors?

Another problem I have just discovered, that now retired, I am apparently not considered a good risk! HSBC said nah...sorry mate, not interested.(Since retirement, I have never had so much disposable income, that seems to remain static). In June, going on a J/F trip to Zurich and Paris via EK, through the Qantas site, on points...and off to Canada(J) in September, so eager to keep the points toting up, albeit at a lower rate than my working days.

Anyway, just curious how to use the card to its maximum. May have to remain with Citi card, if I can't get "better" card.
