As we're doing a cruise this Christmas, I've been doing a bit of reading on the Cruise Critic forum.

There's a bit of talk about "which side of the ship" to take full advantage of sunsets, sunrises, views etc.

Maybe applicable on a one way cruise, but if you're turning around halfway, it's all moot.

That's great!
I often like to take pictures of sunrises & sunsets, even ad hoc, but not sure if I require a website to explain the obvious position of the sun.
I learnt the technique from the Mayans tho ..

Re: Which side of the aircraft will have the sun?

love it! QF1/2 not flying further than DXB but for the rest it is good!

Re: Which side of the aircraft will have the sun?

I've just released an update to SunFlight (dot net), here's a list of new features:

- Multi-leg support (try UA154 for example)
- Calculates the % of time on left, right, and night for each flight
- Calculates the time and side of sunset and sunrise
- New, improved user interface
- Mobile support for iPhone / iPad / Android
- Support for IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback, please keep it coming so I can keep improving this tool. Also if you like using SunFlight please consider donating (using the link at the bottom of the website) so I can pay towards the commercial data costs.

Cheers,
Ian

I actually use a sun seeker app when looking at properties to work out where the sun will hit.

It isn't always that obvious given the sun will rise and set during longer journeys.
