Today Hyatt confirmed they are coming to this party, and will be doing a few things for us

We start with arrival nibbles, on them, someone will come long later to speak to us, and there will be a couple of very handsome prizes that the winners will really enjoy..

It's all shaping up nicely..

Please fine tune whether you are coming so that I can get numbers to them for space & food. At the moment it's looking like 20-40.

We have them for the 9pm Fireworks, the two youngest ogres are ecstatic!! I'm going with them and the boys are staying home. Despite having lived here for years we have never been to Sydney for New Year.

What a joke.

I was there about 15-20 years ago and it was free... Fantastic atmosphere, and great view.

The waiting around for ~7-8 hours did get tiring.

It's still free, tickets are given out to NSW residents via a lottery system.

Im goin' Portside for NYE since my oldest junior Capt can now "drink to his hearts content". Lol.
Is there still space for this event? Had gathered there is but couldn't see an attendance listing ....

Have been sort of off the grid up at O'Reilly's for the last week. What a great spot!

Yes, the event is still on! Between here & other forums numbers are 30-40..
Details still the same, 6-9pm Hyatt Regency SYD, 1/1/17. Look for signs for "Frequent Flying Friends".
Hyatt serving cheese platter & charcuterie to get us started. Someone will come & give us a nod. And a couple of great lucky door prizes.

It would be nice if everyone joined the Hyatt programme. Currently Gold Passport.From 1/3/17 called World of Hyatt.

If you are a member then amongst other things, when you buy drinks / food / accommodation, you earn points..

Storyteller I will try to get there on the first by 6pm. May have toothpicks keeping my eyes open. I think we made it to sleep well before 4am last New Year. I hope I remember to switch to ice water around 10pm as that works pretty nicely.
We are planning to be in London for next NYE so I must really try to get to this gathering.

A huge thank you to the fabulous organizer Storyteller and the staff at the Hyatt Regency tonight.
We had a reserved area of the bar, with some really nice high quality platters for the guests and a lovely and genuinely warm talk by the F&B manager. Hyatt donated a couple of great prizes (sadly I hadn't rigged the draw properly and didn't win either of them).
A good night was had by all with the promise of another event there soon, perhaps at higher altitude

Thanks everyone who was there to make it a great event . We had a very nice turnout of around 30, not bad at all considering right in the middle of family holiday time, plus New Years Day!
And yes, as Princess Fiona described, Hyatt certainly gave us a warm welcome

The prize winners looked pretty happy too...
