SYD ATC Radar Failure 25/9/17

That is no way to enjoy your public holiday in CBR.

I particularly noted that you saw two ther flights leave bound for SYD. I sure hope there were no seats empty on them while pax from your flight languished in CBR.

The tipping point for me was when a 3rd Sydney flight was called and I was still sitting in the lounge waiting for an update on 1424. I had no idea at that point that 1424 had been cancelled and I'd been rebooked onto a much later flight.

Had I waited for my re-booked flight I would have watched a total of 5 Sydney flights depart whilst I waited for my 6am departure.

I didn't even know it was a public holiday here until I got off the 11A bus and saw a 900 heading south.

1513 was over 2 hours late. Ended up having the 717 and a Dash 8 on SYD-CBR at the same time.

So does SYD ATC pay compensation to the airlines for this incident? Or is it considered a force majeure?
Good luck getting compo from the Government!

Plenty of knock on. At MCY, lunchtime flights to SYD VA expected 1;45 late, JQ 2:45 late. Twas a great day for flying elsewhere...

Cheers skip

On the day I posted extensively in the various individual airline delay/ cancellation threads.

It was marked by a huge amount of late running: about 340 flights Australia wide (at least) were more than 15 minutes late, and many were two hours or more late. Refer to these threads for the fine detail.

Not a good day for delays/cancellations.

We were leaving that evening with wife and daughter to BNE on the second last and last flights of the evening. Delay notification came through quite late. Managed to get wife and daughter one of the last seats on my flight which was second last flight. We arrived in BNE after 11:00pm and the last flight arrived around midnight or later.

Thankfully no issues making connecting EK flight to SIN.
