I’ve been ‘watching this space’ for just this reason. Certainly throws a potential spanner in the works but not entirely unexpected, and certainly beyond anyone’s control. Thinking through my options.

I suspect this is a non-starter? Leaving making alternate arrangements as late as possible but will have to pull the trigger sometime.

The train is stuck. Sorry it’s canned. Had the crew on the locomotive for several hours and not allowed to go anywhere.

Trains banked up on the south both directions With the line closed at Bargo.

Will look at a run Feb 1

No one would want to add to the bushfire mess. It’s horrific.

My friend mentioned just now one of his long time friends has seen the house burnt down in Lobethal (Adelaide Hills)with another losing a recently renovated barn....

Yep, my travails (after BAM was cancelled I jumped on a bus to CBR but only got about 30 minutes down the road when we had to turn back - have given up on getting to CBR, and flying back to MEL tonight) pale into insignificance compared to the loss of life and property in all these fires.

Sorry about that. In the end the train crew Had burnt half their days hours waiting for a green signal to get the train to Sydney. The crew scheduled to take over when they ran out of hours were stuck as well.

The main south (railway) was mess, with it just about to re open then closed again for another day. Freight trains were backing up both directions and Sydney’s large yard at Enfield was full unable to take any more trains. In the end had the train made it to central we may have spent the whole trip sitting at the palform enjoying our cold Beveridge’s without moving.

I'm still deliberating on dates, with everything going on I'm a bit hesitant to lock a date in until I know everything will be open.

Still no passenger trains west of Mount Victoria although freights getting through, the main south at Bundanoon closed yesterday. Both due to fires.

Yea was an article in SMH suggesting it’s months of fix up work as the signalling system was destroyed.

Indian-Pacific somehow being re-routed via Goulburn ?

The Indian running via Goulburn, cootamundra and then Parkes instead of via Bathurst to Parkes.

The Great Southern (a train like he Indian) running Melbourne to Brisbane via Dubbo.

I will check out Easter and see what steam engines we can attach to, will be in the Canberra region.
