SYD-CBR vv

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I entered in my VS flying club member number (AWD) on AVIS for CBR and it's approx $48 a day. So works out good I think. Reason I'm not driving is I only have 1 car and my wife needs it and don't really have the time :( And have a 18 month old to contend with. Plus both of us work etc ... Hopefully the 1 hour SYD-CBR vv flight will be great :)

Does it take much time to pick up the car? I.e. do I need to fill out forms etc or I can just grab and go? And I guess the AVIS rental car desk is at arrivals?

Hopefully there is no fog the day I am flying, as I don't have much choice..

Cheers,
K.

Thanks guys. I just had a look at budget car rental and it's like $50 for the day. Not sure why hertz and europcar charge like $80 for the same type of car??? Or am I missing something? :)

Also is it quick to get the car once I arrive at CBR and easy to return it??? Reason I ask is I don't have much time... Sorry for the questions, am new at this

I believe rental cars are parked in the multistory car park which is right next to the terminal.

And the car desks are at baggage claim. You have to walk past them to get out of the terminal. Just make sure you go downstairs.

One thing to consider is what you intend to do during the day between submitting the application and getting your new passport.

Also, it is worth getting there early as there can be quite a queue waiting.

Having a car gives you a bit of freedom.

Glad you found a good deal on the car.

oz_mark has it right, by the sounds of it you will have a fair bit of spare time. If you haven't been, the war memorial is a must see imo.

Yeah will visit some sites :) Any good ideas on where to go for lunch? :)
So you're Malaysian, want to try some Canberra restaurants? If you go to Civic, then Sammy's Kitchen (Malay/Chinese) at Canberra Centre is pretty popular. If you go to Dickson, it's a miniature Chinatown, you can try Rasa Sayang (Malay/Indonesian), or the Scholar (Chinese), or a dozen other Asian/Western restaurants. Or just ask at the High Comm, they'll probably have some ideas...
