Hi All,

Well I'm new to the site (been lurking for a while) and find it amazing how interesting some of the stuff on here is to read.
So it's fianlly come time for my first post, so if someone could help me out that would be great (try to be gentle).
I'm flying on QF87 SYD-HKG on AUG29 and have put in an upgrade request to Business, just wondering if any of you could give me an idea of my chances.
I'm only a lowly Qantas Club Bronze member (sorry, don't know all the codes yet) if that helps.

Thanks in advance,
Nickau

QF87 is a 2-class A330-300. Loads currently (from expertflyer)
J7 C2 D0 I0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 VC SC NC QC OC XC E0
So Economy completely sold out, but only 7 full-fare business seats available.
Would think a strong likelihood of upgrades being granted to open-up more economy slots but will depend on how business class sales go in next 2 weeks.

QF127 (the B747-400 in the morning) is more wide open in First and Business.

Nickau,

Welcome to AFF.

Are you looking at Operational upgrades or points upgrades :?:

With my status it's always with points !! haha
OK :D

... and your status is... :?:

I only ask as with the limited number of business seats available I would suspect that any upgrades would be via points rather than Op ups.

QP NB:cool:

As for your OP Nickau, this may help you learn the lingo. It does become easier with practice! http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/your-questions/abbreviations-and-explanations-5056.html

Ok Guys,

So I'm now just one week out from this flight, Can anyone give me an update on my chances of a business class points upgrade ? And is anyone prepared to stick their neck out and say yes or no ? Naturally, I'll be able to confirm this time next Sunday night (hopefully from the Qantas Club Lounge)

Cheers,
Nickau

QF87 now J9 C5 D1 I0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L0 G0 E0

On the good side at least 9 business class seats available and Qantas is willing to sell some disounted business (D1). On the downside economy now has plenty of seats so no need to upgade.

Amazing how much loads have shifted.

So that don't necessarily upgrade you even if there are spare business seats available ??

I am also a QF NB. I would say that if you have the points, then redeem for J ticket instead of buy and hope for upgrade. All the QF/OW Plat/Gold/Silver will be ahead of you in terms of upgrades.

So only 2 days to go - anyone able to give me an update of my chances ?
Thanks in advance

Very small chance

Just a quick question guys as my flight is TONIGHT.

Should I check in online now ? Or will this ruin my chances of my points upgrade request ? (ie - They might think I'm happy to check into row 60+ something and not consider my upgrade)

It wont change a thing checking, other than putting to an end speculation, its a very full flight: J2 C2 D2 I0 U0 Y9 B9 H9 K1 M1 L1 V1 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0 http://javascript<b></b>:void(0)

On Line Check-in does not seem to impact either points upgrades of operational upgrade chances. If its going to happen, its going to happen whether you are checked-in or not.

Ok, So update (8hrs before flight).

Ive now checked in online and have noticed on the QF website in the manage my bookings section the following detail for tonights flight

Status: Waitlisted
Upgrade Status: Requested
Travel Class: (U)
Flight Duration: 9hr 35m

There is actually 2 lots of flight details, 1 for my Y seat and 1 for the J request
Is this good ?

ps - Are they always 5hrs to the minute when they confirm upgrades ? or can the time before vary ?
