Hi AFFers
Was just hoping to get a little bit of info/review regarding W+ to HKG return.
Work TA was only authorised to book W+ for Feb next year.
Flew in J last week on the refurbed 744 at it was perfect. I have already put in for an upgrade using points, but I was thinking about trying W+ as I have never actually travelled in that cabin. Might trial it and try and get an upgrade for QF128 (HKG-SYD).
Also have 36K allocated on both flights already.

Cheers,

Dmac

We flew QF127 on the 747 in April, and had 36A/B. Depending on which config, 36 can have a misaligned window, so you are leaning to get a view of take-off/arrival.

I found the seats very comfortable for a shortish journey, and the food and service were really good. SWMBO and I both agreed that for the journeys around 7 to 8 hrs, and especially in daylight, W on QF is good value.

Our return on QF 128 was an overnighter on the A380, and I didn't find sleep all that easy, but it beats Y by a long way. Just not quite like getting comfortable in a J cabin. I didn't find any great difference between the A380 and 747 in W in the areas of comfort, food and service, and would have been quite happy to go both ways on the 747.

We will probably do our next trip to Asia in W if they are daylight flights.

We did this trip QF127 13/11 and QF128 18/11 booked in premium economy, refurb 747 36JK up and back.

We were lucky enough to get an upgrade to J on 127, but lucked out on the way back (not surprising when it's an overnight leg).

36JK are good, and although there's no cut-out at the bottom of the bulkhead, there's still plenty of room to get out of the K seat when the J is reclined. Additionally if you stuff your pillow in the wall rack, it makes a comfortable foot rest for sleeping, as long as your not approaching 6'.

Being WP your much more likely to get an upgrade both ways, not sure what the loadings look like.

We booked W to HKG and back but I ended up upgrading on both legs so Mrs_O could have her first day time international J experience.

Earlier this year we did W to SIN too, and the outbound day flight was fine. W is great for these mid-haul day flights. Upgraded to J again for the return though.

I'd recommend giving W a go.
