Hi All,
Go to QF website.
Seach Sydney to Port Hedland (via Perth)
January on these dates; 13,14,15, 20,21,22,23,24,27,28,29,30,31.

$31-$45, ONE WAY!

Question is, can you book these fare? YES you can.

l grabbed one in the off chance that l might be in Sydney the week before and need to get back to Perth. Now, since l only want to get to PER, can l just check in as normal and during the 4 hour transit, just leave, with my luggage too?

I've paid for it, can confirmed with my 6 PRN. Got the e-ticket too. Can QF charge me the difference, once they realise they made a mistake?

NICE.

I know.

But, if l'm flying from SYD to PER, it's a pretty cheap fare. QF stuff up somewhere along the line.

I also had a look on the avaliable flights and got myself on the A330.

Excellent find. SYD-PER for $31 - can't beat that. Shame there is no way to get back cheaply otherwise I'd be very tempted for a SC run.

Thanks. I've booked a ticket, too. Anyone know if they'll let me stop at Perth rather than going up to Port Headland?

Such a shame there's nothing from MEL .. from SYD, you could book two one-ways SYD-PER-PHE and PER-SYD for a nice weekend away in PER for $260. Not bad!!

No reason they wouldn't, they're two different flights after all ... they may not want to short check any bags though.

I guess you could always get off in Perth and then buy a separate ticket back to Sydney. Whether you would still get the points for the Sydney to Perth trip I don't know.

In the event this is a mistake (guessing it would be), wouldn't QF be pulling the rug under it and refunding / not proceeding with the sale?

Probably, if more than a handful of us try to take advantage. Hence, I am going to wait a few days to see before booking my flight home.

Good call - wearing an extra $7.70/pp credit card fee (which seems insane compared to a $31 fare!) is probably worth that risk. ;)

At the end of the day, SYD to PER for $38.48, to me is a good deal. Once payment has been made and e-ticket issued, QF don't have a leg to stand on. Then again, l might be somewhere else and have to do a no-show. I agree with other people though, same that there is no return for the same price range or else l would be doing a SC run.

A friend of mine told me a few years ago that KLM made a mistake on their website and had J seats from Oz to Europe for $100, return. A few people grabbed 'em and once payment and ticket issued, KLM had no choice but to honor it. I think that QF is in the same situation now.

The display error on the website has been fixed - fares previously showing $31 now read $329 :(:(

Without delving into QF's T&C's (which I don't have time for right now), situations like this in the past have been dealt with through an errors and omissions clause - which may not necessarily be valid or TPA-compliant, but are pretty difficult to successfully contest here.

I know people at Ozbargain.com.au have singled out Dell as a particularly bad offender by advertising insanely cheap printers / routers etc and then 'reneging' by claiming an error on their website.

In those cases, Dell did not honour the deal but offered a refund or a (negligible) 'discount'. I wonder how QF will respond.

You may be lucky if not many people booked the mistake airfare. I think QF can cancel the booking and refund your money if it was a genuine mistake airfare.

Didn't a whole lot of Air Canada bookings get cancelled a couple of years ago when they discovered people had taken advantage of a glitch in their system. From memory littl_flier had one of these bookings.

JohnK, I've been digging around trying to find the relevant T&Cs - there's nothing about E&Os in the QF.com terms of use or the ticket terms of carriage.

For the sake of certainty in booking the return, you'd hope it would be rectified / confirmed sooner rather than later - has anyone heard anything from Qantas about the bookings? Is the issuing of an e-ticket the end of the line as far as Qantas' ability to cancel on the basis of pricing / errors?

You may well be right.

Not relevant to your booking but I have found something about website information for Qantas Holidays

Qantas Holidays Errors and faults

Perhaps there is something hidden on the Qantas website or even IATA. I hope the bookings are honoured by Qantas.
