SYD to BKK (and return) - Qantas vs Thai

Hi everyone
Myself and partner usually travel SYD to BKK in whY twice a year and have been loyal to QF for a long time on this route. I will drop from SG to PS before our next trip and am considering giving TG another go. QF to/from BKK can be quite underwhelming - the flights are always full so upgrades are pretty non-existent (even when I was WP). QF SYD international lounge is an embarrassment (as often discussed on this forum) so not too worried about losing lounge access in SYD if I switch to TG (and will be relying on lounge passes anyway unless I rejoin Qantas Club).
So - the question is - who else on here has flown TG in whY from SYD to BKK (and return) and how does the product compare? I am 6ft4 tall too and I believe seat pitch on TG is a bit better than QF too?

Slightly, OffT:
If you do decide to go with TG, join KF if you haven't, and add in your KF # into the booking, with KF miles, they are transferrable to VFF, so you will gain something out of this.
Or I think its mentioned UA miles do not expire, and the are a member of *A, so you could join there, if you have some plans to fly with UA later on, to the US.
There are a number of *A airlines flying from Aust.
Relevancy, its just so that at the least you do gain something, if you decide to fly TG from Aust.
I haven't flown TG so can't say about that airline, but have flown with *A airlines in the past, SQ is a great airline.
If you are flying TG J Royal Orchid, you will have access to either the SK lounge at SYD T1, and I think the Koru in SYD T1 too.
You could join Airpoints with AirNZ, but their points do expire in 4 years.

Just a reminder that QF will fly Finair planes to BKK very soon. That might change the equation quite a bit depending on how you rate AY Y product.

Thats very true. The YouTube videos I have seen show the J product used on SYD-SIN but havent seen much yet re Y (and indeed W)

The addition of Premium Economy on QF flights will be a plus for many.

The Finnair Premium Economy prodcut is awful and uncomfortable. I'd rather be in one of their economy seats which seemed more comfortable than QF Y when
I flew them.

I found the seat to be narrow and not really any improvement on economy. Most of the extra width is in the fixed arm rest and the leg room is less than QF.

The lower back of the seat where it meats the seat cushion is also not very comfortable after a while. I did 1 sector in W and one in Y and for seat comfort alone I preferred the Y seat.
