Here’s a review from just before covid Review: Haneda Airport Transit Hotel

So update - I have arrived in Haneda safe and sound. Very cold here!
I have to say that was the best flight I have ever had, the flight attendants were so amazing!

They heard that I was having to do a Tom Hanks and stay in the Terminal so they gave me a big bag of food to keep me going! I mean in like, wow!

Here's some more nice pics of the flight

I thought there were 3 going to London on this flight but I was apparently the only one. There was another lady transiting for Delhi.
I kind JAL employee met us at the aerobridge and walked us to transit security holding a transit card. She was very friendly and was moving to Adelaide soon as her hubby is Aussie.

Probably about 15 ppl from other flights going thru security, then the lady checked my vax form, UK PLF and passport/boarding pass. Once all done, hop in the elevator up to departures.

Walked out of the elevator right next to JAL lounge as it was closing!

Lady there said it would open at 6am again.
Couldn't use ANA lounge as not same day of departure so found the basic SkyLounge and for $24 got access and a shower.
This closes as 10pm then I'm homeless until 5am for ANA or 6am for JAL lounge.

Terminal is very quiet here but relaxing. Nice vibe.

Thanks for the report! The Japanese carriers are always excellent.

Are the ANA lounge… how will you have access to that? ANA is star alliance, and you are flying JAL to london? Different alliance.

Totally agree especially using the Royal Park Hotel at Haneda as it prefect for this situation and is located within the terminal.

Sure you have to clear customs but is so simple and easy to find in the departure level.

They have a transit part:

The transit hotel has been closed since about 2020. HND is a ghost town basically, they don't get sufficient traffic to warrant the hotel being open.

It's a priority pass lounge.

But that area is still outside and you are required to go through Immigration which is what you can't do at the moment.
It is on the Deparure level as is the whole hotel.Stayed a few times. yes direct access to the terminal but to the check in counters.

This is the airside one being talked about. It's opposite gate 114.

Day 2 update - so I spent u til 9:34pm at the basic SkyLounge and said my goodbyes and went for a wander. Found the ANA lounge and ANA suite lounge for the high rollers. Only ANA suite lounge was open and doesn't accept priority pass. Regular ANA lounge does but is closed for the foreseeable future while quiet. So don't bank on that for a lounge if you're headed via Haneda with your priority pass!

So I found a long row of benches at gate 112 opposite entry to JAL lounge, watching it longingly to open.

It was like it was teasing me...🤣

Fashioned a nice little bed with my pillow and blanket. On a side note I bought this amazing proper travel pillow that I take everywhere,it squishes to a tiny space and is the comfiest ever.

That's not a plug either, I don't get any kickback, it's just saved me so many times on a layover, FYI for the hardcore travellers out there.
Anyway, made a bed and it was really comfy.

There was a couple of people nearby sling the all nighter but never did I feel unsafe. Security guards and cleaners always nearby.
Place felt so clean and well kept.
Read my book then at 10:30pm went to sleep and woke again at 12:15am when the ANA flight to Frankfurt was calling for boarding.
Then the place was dead, perfect for sleep, so dozed off u til 2:30am when staff started quietly cleaning and maintaining terminal. Slept again until 5:53am! Place was busier now, gathered my gear and headed upstairs to the JAL lounge. Sakura is closed so here I am in the lovely First Lounge. Thanks for nothing QF First lounge 🤣 I'm not bitter or anything...letting it go.

Everything done via QR code here, amazing service, always smiling, polite. Booked a shower and was first one in.

Food is also ordered via QR and they bring it to your table, drinks you collect yourself.

I have never been to Japan before, always going via Singapore to UK or BKK. Kinda wish I could stay a few days, I really like how it's so organized, feels calm and makes me relaxed.
I'll definitely be back when they open to tourists.
Not eating anything in the lounge as saving myself for the onboard catering.
Stay tuned for more excitement in the next episode of "Scoobs Trip To the UK on Japan Airlines Which Is Really Really Awesome" 🤣

The JL 1st Lounge in HND is very good. I transited in late 2018 SYD-LHR but for some reason it opened about 1hr or so after the JL Biz lounge.

I’m looking at JAL to LHR options also, now that it’s easier to avoid the NRT-HND airport change! I decided to stay a few nights on the way home last time but not banking on that for the time being.

Hopefully those already good value JL fares will get back the QF coded flight options that were great status earners. ie previous trip was QF code SYD-HND (on one of the last coal burning 744s), then BA HND-LHR (the connection was better than the JL option) then we were able to bounce through HEL (CDG-NRT on AY/JL) before doing NRT-SIN-SYD JL/QF all for sub $6k and a tidy haul of SCs!
