Sydney airport Express passes

For the first time in about 6 years I used the APEC / crew entry at SYD at the other end to QF check in due to the Express Path being closed, and I reckon it was actually quicker than what the Express Path generally provides for, as the folks going through the security here are always well learned on what to do. Unfortunately this is only good for those with said APEC card, but thought it was worth a mention

Cheers,
Matt.

I always thought it was Crew only. Despite it exiting at the same place where APEC cards are accepted.

Nope - both are posted on the signage. Crew would get priority though, and did, on the day

Do they have e-passport gates in the APEC line or manual only? IIRC entry at SYD for APEC is manual only.

Not looking forward to my visit to SYD when I leave next week. It will be my first experience since the Express Path stopped. Hopefully it won't be too painful.

I'm glad we decided to go to Sydney fom Canberra next Monday evening, rather than risking a very short connection time Tuesday morning. Qantas is still selling tickets with a connection time of an hour to get from domestic to international flights, afaik.

Evening departure almost walk through yesterday. I suspect it’s only a problem morning to mid day when many of the bigger planes depart.

Yeah I've noticed a few of their connections barely meet MCT. I do wonder if some of the people who come up with the ticketing rules have every actually tried to do the connections they are selling.

What time did you get there? My next trip through there is not for a few weeks, morning too.
It was around 0800 on a Monday.
Very busy but staff were managing the crowds and kept everything moving at a brisk pace.

Thanks. Guessing that airline staff would not be able to escort you to the front of the line like they do in some ports for F/VIP.

Have an 8am flight coming up in 2wks. So security around 6am ish.. Let's see how it is

Qantas first staff did this two weeks back when the queue was winding once through the entire terminal. However, this only cuts about half of the waiting time because it was just up to the end of the outside line and keeps winding around after that point still.

Also caused one hell of an issue at First class check in as only real First class passengers and CL members got escorted. Reduced the amount of check in staff to the point that a First queue was forming outside the separated silver cubicle which I had never seen before. I therefore doubt that they will continue to do it.

How's it been in the evening?
Expecting to be going through SYD T1 around 1800-1830 tomorrow.

Im wondering what exactly they are "renovating" considering it was a just a door and small ramp that lead you into the main area with different rat tunnels to walk through.

Probably more shops....as always the case with SAC.

They could've so easily set up a temporary express path queue - they have plenty of room to do it however it may have taken more than the 30 seconds of thought they used for the current set up.

Went through last Friday night. Checked in at about 7:30pm and it took me about 20 minutes to get through immigration and security. The lines were reasonably long. Was expecting it to take longer though so I can't really complain.
