Has anyone flown business class on Qantas Syd - Akl. I understand this service is operated by Jet Connect on behalf of Qantas using 737-800's. My query is the business class seating and more importantly the seat pitch. Are they the same as QF Bus domestic ie a pitch of around 35" or have they extended the leg room to around 38". Anyone know ???

I do not know definitively but believe they are very similar (or the same) as domestic business.

Thanks guys...I thought as much, not to worry, it is only about a 3 hour trip

I would look at other options too like LAN if you want OW points and status or emirates. Both would have much better seating/cabins at similar pricing.

EK even flys A380 on that route and I have in the past seen EK F fares for a similar price to QF J fares as well...

QF J on the TT is very expensive, around 2500 for a return, where LA is only 750. EK is 1300 in J and 2500 in F...

fly ek380 j or f :) why waste $$$ on an inferior qf product on the syd-akl sectors.

Yes most Qantas flights SYD-AKL are on a Jetconnect 737-800. These have a seat pitch of 37 inch in Business class, the same as all Qantas 737-800s. SeatGuru says 35 inchs but it is wrong.

The exception is QF114 (and QF141 coming back) they are usually an international configuration A330 (occasionally a domestic A330 is substituted). Which have sky beds with a pitch of 60 inchs in business class. At the weekends this flight is sometimes substituted for 737-800. So best to check the aircraft type before booking.

Recommend Qf141 Syd Akl, sky bed is nice and reasonable service. Disadvantage is the early morning start

Yes this Saturday we were on QF114 and it was a 738 by Jetconnect.
The crews though there and back were probably the best we have had on QF for quite some time.

Thanks for all the help guys. i am only flying the one way with qantas because I am using some FF points for a free-bee. Returning on EK's 380 in first @ a cheaper price than a QF J fare. Doesnt compute does it

Go figure....

True International First class cabin on an A380, or a coughpy "seat" on a domestic narrowbody? I really am amazed at how QF continue to get away with this sort or pricing. Its beyond outrageous!!

Id take LA, despite the timings as the price is excellent!!

The LA flights may be finishing after October; Qantas are moving to SCL with their Sth American Sydney flights.

I heard... but i wonder if theyll drop the SCL-AKL leg too??
I don't believe that's planned currently; but who knows. QF have a codeshare on the current flights; that may finish as well.
