Sydney Buses Route 400 ticket Q?

Just FYI for the train from the airport, most (all?) MyMulti tickets do not include the airport line and this has to be purchased separately. I caught the train from the domestic terminal to Central station about 2 weeks ago and the ticket was $15.40 (adult one way) which is only 3 stations.

If you already have a MyMulti, all you need to do is buy the gate pass when you arrive at the airport station. It's $12 single, or $18.60 for a week.

If catching the train from domestic and you already have a mymulti, like medhead says you can simply buy a $5 transfer ticket.

The general rates to the airport are ridiculous though. If I don't already have a MyMulti, it costs me $19.90 to get from home to the airport via public transport (light rail to central, and then train from there). The trip takes from 30-45 mins depending on how well I connect.

It costs ~$27 via a taxi ($8 more) and takes about 20 minutes.

And that's for one person. If there's more than one, a taxi is a no brainer.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate all the info, links etc. i will pass all this info on and let them decide what they want to do. Given they will be travelling in and out of the city for three days and then back the airport some kind of weekly or pass sounds the way to go. If they just take a cab to Bondi Junction they will still need to buy tickets for public transport for the three days they are there. Anyways, that is only my thinking. I shall leave it to them.

For ease of use I'd advise just getting the bus. You can pay the driver, stuff the luggage wherever it will fit and sit back relax until you arrive in Bondi Junction.

Forget messing around with taxis and train/bus combinations on a Monday morning at peak hour - too much hassle.

It will be $4.50 per adult and $2.20 per child from the airport to Bondi Junction so try to have exact change for the bus driver.

Thank you AFFers. I gave all the above info to my sister and she (and family) have decided to go for the MyMulti1 ticket and just use the bus. They are not in a rush so no worries on that front.

I too frequent SYD a bit and never completely understood the new ticketing system (I understood the old travel passes), I too have learned a lot and the $5 international transfer ticket is a good idea.

Once again thank you all for sharing your knowledge it is much appreciated.

eta: This is my 100th post... yay...

I didn't know about this either....$5 access to the station then go wherever your weekly ticket takes you.

Provided your weekly allows you to travel between Wolli Creek and Central at a minimum. That's a very important point, otherwise you're fare evading.

If it's approx a $40 taxi ride from domestic to Bondi, that comes down to $8ish pp for a family of 5 to get to your destination door to door. No waiting, no lugging bags on and off transport.

No waiting once you get a cab, being a Monday that could be a wait, with the train the cost is $43 odd for the family of 5, and no traffic to contend with which will inflate the taxi price.

Having a validated Mymulti1 ticket covers the area so methinks this will be my goto travel option for Sydney. I often arrive fairly late at night so I don't want to do the bus to Mascot-train to the city hop but I don't mind paying $5 for platform access.

I appreciate the tip.

I regularly get the train from airport to Kings cross, that's usually a 20 to 30 minute trip. Bondi Junction is the next stop after,

Er, no. Edgecliff is the stop after Kings Cross, Bondi Junction is one stop further along and at the end of the train line.
