I'm keen but I may be on csll, meaning an alcohol free night:eek::(

Interesting.... would fit neatly between an anniversary celebration and a birthday... If only JQ had a sale on right now :(

Sydney Hilton is scary that night; is there something on that weekend that would account for it?

Some rugby type game I believe.

Major hotels are cashing in on the 30,000 British and Irish fans expected to visit Australia for the Lions rugby tour, with some charging as much as double the normal rate for rooms on the night of the Sydney Test next month.

In a welcome boost to the tourism industry in one of its quietest periods of the year, an extra 10,000 fans are expected to visit Australia, up from the 20,000 who visited when the Lions last toured in 2001.

I believe that's July 6th.
I haven't the foggiest idea what's happening that weekend. Can't see anything on the Sydney tourism site nor any ticket outlets selling any high demand events.

Hotel pricing seems to be all over the place, some are cheaper than normal some are a lot more expensive than normal...

I maybe a starter also . Will possibly be flying home from Ayers Rock on the 17th all going well , so it could be a case of dropping the bag at home and come in for dinner.

List me as interested

As discussed with kpc the other day there are a few people already showing interest.

I think we will need to book a table. Would ~4 weeks from event be enough time to book table?

Would people be able to make a commitment that far out? Or book a table for 12 and take it from there?

I would agree...book a table for 12 but at 6 weeks out as Sat nite is busy....if a few less show up, that shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully, they don't insist on any deposit:)

Agreed. I shall book a table for 12 first week in July just before I head off overseas.

JohnK,

The idea is great and normally I would look as it is well ahead but Sydney hotel prices are horrendous on the 17th Aug.

Translated that is a NO for me because of hotel costs.

Pity its not a mid-week gig:(

I like to go home on the weekends.

Apologies date does not suit. We (probably my suggestion at last dinner) tried choosing a date 2 months in advance so had no idea about hotel prices. The next one will more than likely also be approximately 2 months later.

I know that does not suit everyone but best way I could think of organising it and at least people have advance notice.

I only come home on weekends. So if this organised mid-week I miss out. :(

Sad either way that one of us has to miss out.

This would be slightly earlier than 2 months after but any chance of the next one being between 28/10-5/10? :D (Long shot but hey worth asking right?)

:( Next could be mid-week in Brissy?
