My wife just found 2 complimentary invites to the F lounge which she had lost!
I'm now going to use them mid next month on a trip to LAX.
When I fly out, I've got about 4 hours in Syd and on the return, I've got 5 hours.
I guess it will be the international lounge going out, but I'm wondering what the story is coming home as I'm in J, so will be in the J lounge anyway.

Any suggestions on what to do while in the lounge? I'll avoid the (tongue in cheek) high vis jacket and steel capped boots, so will dress accordingly.
I'm guessing champagne, food and massage! Any other suggestions?

The really funny part of finding the invites is that we flew to the US a few weeks ago, and she could not find the invites anywhere, so we used the normal QP. The passes were in her purse all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming you are returning LAX-xSYD-ADL then you won't be able to access it on the way back unless your SYD-ADL flight is QF81 which departs from the International terminal.

There's usually about four champagnes on offer to work your way through, let alone the slew of whites and reds.

The restaurant meals are always excellent IME.

I've never bothered with massages.

Coming home, you won't get into the international lounges unless you're transiting internationally. If domestic, the best you do is the Dom J lounge - which is of course not a patch on the Int F lounge.

Is there any way of easily finding out all QF domestic flights such as this that leave from the Int terminal? I would rather enjoy avoiding the transfer to the domestic terminal in SYD to transit through to PER.

Does that mean you would clear immigration in ADL?

Do a search, every so often ppl post up threads on current dom flights leaving from int terminals, but it is a very fluid thing as schedules change.

Yes, if you took QF82 SYD-ADL you'd clear immi in ADL.

That said, I don't find the terminal transfer to be too much of a hassle, and making flights line up nicely to do somewhere-xSYD-(QF82)-xADL-PER might end up being more hassle \ waiting around than had you gone somewhere-xSYD(T1)-xSYD(T3)-PER.

Ah yes - but why fly direct if you can connect - and especially to take in the Int F lounge for a few hours on the way in . As a SFSC often on a xONEx coming in from LAX, I have all the time in the world :D. A shower and breakfast in the Dom J lounge pales into insignificance by comparison  - let alone having to put up with the grotty bus transfer .

on a similar theme, I guess there would not be any Dom flights leaving MEL Int?

There is at least one thread, and probable more.

JQ35\36 do a MEL-SYD-MEL run from INT, but no, right now I'm not aware of any QF DOM flights leaving from MEL T2...

None through to PER - sorry

Don't like the idea of those JQ codes, anyway .

Yeah, I don't think there are any AFFer's who have ever flown on JQ35\36, and certainly never just for the fun of waiting around at an airport...

I wasn't expecting to use the international lounge on my return to Oz, so I'll keep the other invite for another trip later this year and give myself even MORE time in Sydney.

Personally, i'd take the lounge on the way out rather than the way back (even if you manage to tie it in with QF82).

4 hours is more than enough time in the lounge, even for a first timer IMHO. In addition, you'll have just come off a long flight on the way back, and may not be awake enough to fully enjoy the experience. Also, the massage may put you to sleep ;)

Just out of interest, where did you get the Flounge invites from?

Qantas gave one-time F-Lounge vouchers out to some members during the grounding as compensation for the inconvenience.

As far as I am aware that is the only legitimate way to acquire them.
