Landed on VA891, 5 minutes before our 23:30 extended curfew. We were told that VA requested and was granted a dispensation the extend to 23:30.

Currently taxiing (at 00:04), hopefully to a gate!

So has there been any overflow delays this morning?

Just hope it doesn't happen (or us a continuing problem) on Monday [firstworldproblems :o]

Indeed there has been. News is reporting Optus router failure caused the issue, not Sabre.

Reported that all is " back to normal" ... a number of cancelations earlier ( due to aircraft out of position)

I was in the lounge at 7pm, and the food was pretty much gone. Then the system crashed. It was not handled well. The announcements were contradictory, and we lined up for an hour just to be told that they can't actually book new flights, and it is best if we sort out our own hotels. If they announced the fact that they could not rebook flights, they would have halved the queue. We were told to phone Virgin to rebook.

So I got a taxi into the city and found a cheap hotel in the form of the Four Points, which was $180. They told us to claim it back, which I now need to figure out how to do.

Once in the hotel I phoned Virgin only to be told the lounge should not have told us to call, as their system as down too. I tried after 9pm again and got through to the wrong department, and they sorted me out, while confirming that the Gold call centre could not themselves book a new flight!

I got the 7am flight this morning and everything was running smoothly.

To cap it all off I was on a business class reward, and they wanted to charge me $35 to rebook that! They waived that when I got huffy.

The flight though was great, Jade was the CS and really put on the service, and the food was awesome!

Seems examples keep popping up of VA not knowing whether they are LCC or otherwise. Given they use to regularly waive the rebooking fee (even when it was genuinely chargeable), I can only imagine VA have issued instruction to charge, charge, charge..........

I'm not surprised about an IT outage. It happens. But I am blown away that a dispensation was granted especially since many other flights are denied it. Perhaps they have been asked to be more realistic!

I have found if it's the regular call centre they will automatically charge the fee no budging. If it's status staff usually waived without asking.
