sitting in the BNE lounge, eating a REAL toasted sandwich with REAL cheese and ham - nom.

got me thinking though - how to improve on this? how do you eat yours?

Haven't tried one yet, will be this weekend.

I hear they are pretty good!

They need Tomato at breakfast. Even bacon (cold) would be great to add to a TS.

The cheese (Swiss? Gruyere?) is nice, but the combo of cheese + ham when toasted needs something more.

One of the astute members here thinks that a tomato relish should be added to the condiments. I agree.

For a real toastie, it must have butter spread on the outside before toasting and again when removed from the toaster! Real butter (salted) of course

I might be a pervert but I like it with ketchup instead of tomato relish:shock:

That would be me.

Definitely needs tomato, and a tomato relish would raise it to perfection :)

The same stuff they serve with the pies would be good :)

Damn you iphone and fat fingers. Sent from my iphone and AFF app :))

I'm beginning to gather you're not an early riser, Liam! :p

That you are right! Most of the time, 1 in 4 flights, usually I have to.

Edit: Oooohhhh. 999 posts. What to write for my 1000th post. Should be something smart!

I am going to have brekky in The Lounge on Saturday morning as well - probably in around 6.30am so will just miss you.

Cmon you lot, half the days over before you get on the plane! I'd never get any work done that way!

definitely agree with tomato and tomato relish at breakfast (*cough* Dean *cough* - please? :) )

what about seeded mustard at breakfast? too much??

When I was at the Virgin BNE Lounge last week, there was no cheese!!

Has anybody been there in the past week? Maybe this has been corrected.

Luckily, I asked the lounge staff for some cheese and they promptly brought it out from the back.

Refilling perhaps? Was in BNE Thurs and SYD Fri lunch, Swiss and cheddar available. Am with the requests for relish (or yes, even a plain old tomato sauce) for my sandwiches - toasted or otherwise.

I like spicy food. Definately need chilli sauce.

Sauces and chutneys goes almost without saying!

In keeping with the acclaimed (well here on AFF anyway ;)) choice of the Austalian owned and made Grown handcare products in the lounge, an ideal choice for a truly unique range of genuine Australian made and owned sauces, chutneys, dressings and preserves would have to be the Outback Spirit range. I can certainly recommend the sauces (I love the wild lime, chilli and ginger and the Kakadu plum and sweet chilli ) and such a simple change to the Virgin lounge line up would be awesome and very, very uniquely Australian!

I'd better just add a disclaimer here......I have no connection whatsoever with Outback Spirit, just a very happy and impressed customer.

Swannings tip of the day.......

Deep fried King Island camembert and Outback Spirit, Kakadu plum and sweet chilli dipping sauce is to die for......and my specialty at bar-b-ques .

Special note for Luke Mangan, if you want my special recipe for the above mentioned delicacy for the DJ lounge, I'll supply it free of charge provided I'm given forewarning of deep fried camembert lounge events ;)
