Taking 87 year old Father into Sydney's & LAX's First Lounges

My rule of thumb is either everyone in a party goes to a lounge or nobody does - the group stays together. And I would not ask on the day - either everything is guaranteed in advance or I wouldn't bother. This is supposed to be a special trip for FIL and there is no worse way to start a trip than the embarrassment of being refused lounge entry. It may be water off a duck's back to you, but for an occasional traveller it could be excruciating.

I am a Platinum FF and as such can get my wife and I in to the First Lounge. We are taking my wife's 87 year old father to the USA in May 2022, and are wondering if anyone else has had any luck/suggestions for getting him in to the Sydney & LAX's First Lounge with us?
There’s some good suggestions, so far. Some are perhaps more useful than others. Hopefully something will work out.

Keep and eye on this site, I have 2 that I will not use and will offer them up. I am waiting to find out if they can be used and may depend on which lounges are open and when. I seem to recall that when QF opened the F lounges mid year for NZ travel guest passes were not been accepted. The ones I have do not expire until Sep 22 so there is heaps of time.
Hi Matt, I may have missed it, but did you put up the F lounge passes?
Regards Anthony

I have not given them up in "free stuff" as the F passes and as far as I am aware any J pass cannot be linked to bookings due to limitations in the QF ITS or unwilling to allow this to happen. When I know they can be used I will give them away.

Thanks Matt, I appreciate your reply.

About 10 years ago I travelled with my parents all on a J award ticket MEL-LAX. We checked in at the F check in (I was WP) and when we arrived at the F lounge we were all able to go in. I believe the F check in staff member called ahead and notified the lounge.

No guarantees of course but I think your chances are good.

Yeah, but then Jennifer came along. Just hope that it’s her day off.

Has your wife been in the F lounge before ?
As a "wife" I would happily stay outside and let my husband and father in law go into the lounge of I was unable to be guested in.
Yes I am talking as someone who has been there numerous times . However your father is elderly , perhaps infirmed and I would have no doubt he would love it.
Funnily enough my late father would have much preferred to have gone I to the lounge with his son in law as opposed to his daughter aka me .lol they would have talk all about the planes.

Thank you in advance for your help and advice.
What date are you flying out?

I’m flying SYD-LAX 5 May and could guest your father in law in 😊

As I am trawling through old posts
Just wondering how the OP went and what decision he made ?
Likewise, booked a between xmas and NYE trip to Japan via Singapore and understanding it's a hectic time for the lounge trying to work out the best way to get my partner and her younger sister (18, this trip is basically her 'schoolies') into F if at all possible.

Have already sent her lounge passes for J lounge but given time not so sure they'll be accepted.
