Taking up Gold Fast Track while Diamond

I am HH Diamond until 3/17 via status match in December 15, and just recieved a Gold Fast track offer via our corporate travel agent. The gold offer expires on 31/12/2016 and I have no hope of retaining Diamond (or reaching gold) via stays/ spend.

What will happen if if I sign up for the offer while still Diamond? Will I be demoted to gold, drop to Gold instead of Blue in April 2017, or something else?

Yes of course, but any decision is better if assisted by information and data. Perhaps someone here has done something similar and/or has information that would be helpful - isn't that the point of the forum?

As to "does it matter?", yes it does. I stay at hiltons often for status to make real difference, just not enough to requal diamond or gold with current travel patterns. If I knew that taking up the Gold offer would cost me Diamond, I wouldn't do it.

With Hilton who knows what they will do :!:

Fast tracks to Gold do seem to appear regularly enough that you could always miss this one and try again when another arises or you could ring the HH Diamond desk and ask for help or advice.

Why not apply for the Macquarie HHonors card and get instant Gold which you keep for as long as you hold the card?

The card is currently on offer for just $99 first year and IIRC a free night after spending $12K.

Perhaps waiting may be wise? I think a few have stated they've either been comped another year of diamond, or given a soft landing to gold. I don't think there is any hard evidence as to the HH plan, but if you can hold off, it may prove fruitful!

Arrrgghh. Certainly not my preferred option.

I can't see myself getting another year of Diamond given to me.

Gold fast-track offers seem to be (almost ) always be around, in one form or another.

Has anyone reported success in achieving fast-track gold whist still diamond?

I would hold off on this.
