Correct, if you are not targeted then you will not get the DSC (even if you click what ever link). It's that simple. It's not a generic offer for everyone. But there is a risk if you didn’t receive the first email, although it looks like you registered, you won’t actually get the DSC?
Well I was targeted as well. I haven’t booked a QF flight in a while.
I believe you must have "Exclusive Offers for Qantas Frequent Flyer Members" selected in your QFF account's email communication preferences. Unfortunately, this doesn't filter out numerous annoying messages about insurance, that I have zero interest in, but I put up with it in order to get things like DSC offers. If they have opted out of all communications then they won't receive targeted offers like this. Don't think there's any workaround to this - maybe they need to be a little less touchy about email... it's easy to delete what you don't want.My relo won't sign up to get any emails from QF. Does this mean that this email would not get though either? Or, is it maybe independent from general emails?
NoWould the generic "registration" link imply that all those targeted, even if they didn't "register", but meet the booking and travel window would likely get the DSC anyway?
It's not generic at all. The link has a token in it that would identify the specific QFF member in a database. The terms and conditions make clear that this link must be used for the offer to apply.Would the generic "registration" link imply that all those targeted, even if they didn't "register", but meet the booking and travel window would likely get the DSC anyway?
Targeted offers are certainly effective at creating ill will on the part of those that miss out.
But unless you socialise with a large pool of other frequent flyers (which is pretty much the case on this forum) - you'd be none the wiser.

It will not work. There was only a limited amount of emails sent out, a few thousand. And they are clearly targeted. If you were booking anyhow you may as well try to do the pseudo registration. You have nothing to lose and with Qantas’ glitchy IT issues who knows
