I will be working in Burnie for a month commencing 23/3.I will definitely have the weekend of 11/12 April free and probably also 4/5 April.Happy to drive down to Hobart for a weekend.Drinks or lunch/dinner.
Whatever.

That's my neck of the woods, I should be able to get to something in that date range.

11/12 is the Barossa weekend; once I recover from present trip will see about wandering north the prior week, if you guys are free ( I hope mrs.dr.ron will be there too?)

Interested in principal, however the 4/5 weekend I am in Japan, and the 11/12 is the Barossa weekend. The fortnight after that I am probably going to be in the US... but that trip isn't 100% confirmed yet.

Unfortunately I will be there by myself.
For anyone in the area I certainly will be free-Burnie if on call,Devonport to Wynyard if not-at a pinch Stanley.
The weekends of 28/29/3 and 18/19/4 I almost certainly will be on call but available for drinks, meal in Burnie.
Doesn't have to be a large gathering.

I will have Easter off from Friday morning until the Monday night.I will be on call the 28,29/3 and the 11,12/4 so will probably now be flying home on 18/4
So basically anywhere in Tassie over easter I can be there.

I have 2 work trips during these dates but will be about most of the time. Being local to the Burnie area I am not limited to weekends - happy to catch up on a school night if you will be dining out most nights anyway.

I recommend you get to "Mrs Jones" at the Bluff in DPO. I don't know if you made it to the "Wild Café" in Penguin when you spent time in this neck of the woods but this moved to the Bluff and changed names.

I think that Seabreeze at Killynaught (Boat Harbour), Bayviews, Rialto Gallery & Baltimore's (Burnie) are good.

The change of ownership at Casablanca since your posts a few years back has not been positive - they are ok but not what they were.
Pier01 in Ulverstone has good reviews - not eaten there since it first opened.
Cable Station (Stanley) gets rave reviews - not made it there yet but it is on my list.

If looking for a nice lunch in Burnie - Leonardoz, Hellyers Road Distillery or Seabreeze on Cattley are worth a look.

How about lunch in Launceston or there-abouts on Easter Monday? Black Cow, or Stillwater, assuming they are open?

I've had fish and chips (flathead) from Pedros in Ulverstone (next to Pier01) and it was very good. Cafe del Mar at Turners Beach does a good brekkie and I'm looking forward to going back there.
Hopefully I can get to Cable Station this trip and I'll try to get to Mrs Jones in Devonport before we fly out. Thanks for the tips!

I have some business to attend to in Ulverstone, but will only be there 1 day, then over to Stanley and down the west coast to Strahan via the C214 and Pieman River.

Pedros is another good restaurant, I have not been to Café del Mar (unless it is the café attached to the Berry Patch) I cannot recommend Mrs Jones highly enough.
Have you been on the C214 / C249 before? It is unique but not a route I would take to get from a to b. I take it you are crossing the Pieman river on the ferry and then over the Reese Dam wall - I think that the small section from Corinna to the Reese dam wall is the best part of the whole trip.

Could be good - being Easter / a long weekend I will need to first check what my better have had planned for me before committing.

Mrsdrron will be joining me for Easter. We are happy to spend a couple of days in the Tamar valley.might make it a Pinot tour-noir for me and grigio for her!
Loved Stillwater when we went.

Steady we were regulars at Wild in Penguin. But got bored as little change in menu and way too noisy for Sunday lunch.Hence Casablanca or Drift in Devonport. Will definitely try Mrs Jones.
In Burnie we liked Bayview-not neccessarily the best food but you could talk to the boss and chef and make suggestions and they seemed to take it on board. Also lliked Muddled but that too is no more.
And every time we were in Burnie for lunch it was Hellyers.

OK, I've taken the liberty of booking Stillwater for 12:30 on Easter Monday, 6 April, for 4 people. If that's not what's wanted, its easily cancelled (or expanded, or changed :) ) in the next week or so.

I wouldn't mind joining you on that pinot run, dr.mrs.dr.ron if its on the Monday.

Those who want to come, pls advise here in the next week or so.

So we are booked at the Sebel Launceston from good friday until the Monday. On call the Tuesday.
So bringing down a Morris vintage port 1972 and for something a little different a Romavilla Madeira.Willing to share a glass.

I stayed there two weeks ago, nice little hotel. They even give you ear plugs for the damn clock ringing all night:)

The lunch at Stillwater on Easter Monday is still on. We have one spot left on the booked table - if anyone wants to come and bring +1, let me know and I'll increase the reservation.

If I am not already; colour me platinum.

No +1 this time
