Pedant :)

I have taken a domestic leg of a flight with a number below QF400....
And if you started and finished the flight in Australia, it was still a domestic flight, not an international flight, as seen by the orange D sticker on your boarding pass and the fact that you were not able to purchase duty-free products onboard.

In my experience, Qantas Club staff are generally good at knowing the access rules and applying them correctly. They don't seem to have the same attitude as BA who tend to use the theory that you are not allowed in unless you can jump through all their hoops and align all your proof to the satisfactions of the agent applying their own interpretation of the BA rules.

I have never had issues with BA staff allowing lounge access ; just produce boarding pass and membership card showing either emerald or sapphire status and have been alllowed straight in to the appropriate lounge; hardly "jumping though hoops"

I think you might find that since SYD and MEL are both in Australia (yes, I know MEL is "south of the boarder") that it is in fact a domestic flight. That is why your boarding pass has a big orange D sticker on it.
I will be on QF81 ADL-DRW this Saturday and I assume that I will have a big orange D sticker on my boarding pass. I understand when I disembark at DRW they keep the boarding pass.

I would like to keep the boarding pass (as I collect all my boarding passes) and is there a way to do so? I think it was with serfty at OzFest III we were discussing how it is possible to keep the boarding pass but I have forgotten now. Do I need to tear off the smaller portion of the boarding pass before presenting it when clearing immigration/customs at DRW?

Yes! Just hope the BP readers at ADL don't chop this stub off. This often happens ex BNE international.

You will only have the orange D if you are terminating in DRW. If you have a connecting international flight, then you stay airside and don't get the D sticker.

yeah. Very annoying habit of the BNE readers. Wonder why they are so special! Don't recall the intl ones ex SYD having the same issue, or the ones ex DRW etc.

IIRC, the BNE ones also have the habit of flashing your name and details to anyone behind you as the pass is being scanned. Not really a big issue, but some people (particularly ladies) could have problems with the familiarity it can create.

Its so the BNE ground agents can key in the BP details manually an hour later when the clocks catch up with the Sydney computers.

I may have to ask nicely beforehand if this is the case. I would really love to keep the boarding pass.

Domestic passenger only. Terminating in DRW to get some much needed golf practice for AFF's 2006 (Inaugural) Golf Challenge. ;)

My understanding when flying to USA, UK and SIN is that bronze qp members can use the partner airlines when in Y class
