TG is hardly the highest profile international airline operating to Oz in 2015.

Nonetheless despite bad (financial) losses a year or so ago (it is now once again profitable with the drop in the price of oil), it must have its fans as it continues to offer reasonable, if not stunningly good, frequencies on the Australia routes.

TG492 from AKL to BNN is passing over very northern NSW at rpesent having taken off at 1940, four hours and 50 minutes after its pushback time, with arrival due at 0027 on Monday 9 December (0427 AEDT) rather than 2050 hours tonight Bangkok time (0050 AEDT.)

TG466 is usually punctual but this afternoon (Thursday 3 December) it took off almost an hour late at 1648 from MEL on its trip to BKK.

TG has lost (like all Thai airlines) coveted 'Category 1' status from the USA's FAA this week, which I have mentioned under the AFF's 'general discussion' pages.

The redeye from BKK to MEL is usually early, often by 20 minutes or so, but that is not the case for the Wednesday 17 February 2016 arrival which in the form of B772 HS-TJW should arrive at about 1420, 75 minutes late after taking off at 0146 compared with its pushback time of 0005.

TG461 (B772ER HS-TJW), the 2120 hours Friday 26 February MEL arrival ex BKK is about an hour and a half late and should be at the gate at 2250. TG462 is not timed to depart until 0050 hours on Saturday 27 so it should (fingers crossed) be able to depart on time.

This shows the value in having a slightly longer turnaround than the minimum required: there is some 'room to move' if the inbound is somewhat (but not hugely) late. TG is quite punctual on the BKK - MEL run and return.

They are actually an incredibly reliable airline schedule wise, it's just a pity they haven't got their best product consistently flying in to MEL. Doesn't matter much in economy as they have some of the best economy service going around, but business class is another story. We have used them fairly frequently over the years with our family split between BKK and MEL.

Thai is often punctual or in the case of the MEL-bound flight due in around midday, early, but on Friday 27 May it did not escape adverse effects from the westerlies pummeling SYD airport. The 1600 hours mid afternoon TG472 from SYD took off at 1715 and should arrive at about 2330 hours late tonight, 70 minutes late, with B744 HS-TGW as the aircraft.

On wednesday 20 July, TG461, the 0810 hours BKK - MEL (B772ER HS-TJW) took off at 0906; arrival is forecast for 2030, half an hour behind.

A week after the last post - symptomatic of generally good timekeeping into and out of Australia, although none of us can monitor every flight - there is the relatively rare appearance of Thai in these posts, this time on Wednesday 27 July with TG461, the daytime 0810 hours BKK- MEL having taken off exactly at 0910 with arrival expected at 2055 hours, 55 minutes late. Aircraft is B772ER HS-TJW.

Sunday 9 October has TG483, the 2359 hours Saturday 8 BKK - PER running about an hour late with arrival suggested as 0848; B788 HS-TQF is the aircraft.

TG465 from BKK down to MEL is usually early or punctual but that is not so on Sunday 9 October with B744 HS-TGY suggested as arriving at 1500, an hour and 55 minutes late. It did not take off from BKK until 0209 despite an 0015 hours timetabled departure from its gate.

Not unexpectedly because it is the return of an inbound flight to MEL that was late, but TG466 (1615 hours MEL - BKK) took off at 1743, so should arrive at around the 2300 hours mark in BKK this evening instead of 2145. HS-TGY is the B744.

TG475, the 1920 hours Wednesday 12 October BKK - SYD took off at 2002 which is only about 20 minutes late but will be a little more delayed arriving in SYD on Thursday 13 at about 0852, 32 minutes behind schedule. The B744 is HS-TGZ.

The Saturday 15 October 2359 hours BKK - PER, TG483 (B788 HS-TQA) did not take off until 0057 on Sunday 16. Therefore it will not arrive until about 0822, 37 minutes late.

C'omon Melburnian1 - Isn't your finger on the pulse today? :D

TG465 BKK-MEL diverted to PER this morning - Medical Emergency. Hoping affected passenger is ok. Will arrive MEL approx 3hrs later than planned.

Apologies, hummel, I haven't yet developed 'multi skilling' so that's why reliable individuals like you contribute. Remember - males can only do one thing at a time (but in your case, you do it exceptionally well).

TG465 on Saturday 29 October took off from PER at 1033 and should be in MEL at about 1610 this afternoon. Aircraft is B773ER HS-TKL. Three hours late is a lengthy delay for a medical diversion but in this instance the Thai flight presumably had to fly a long way from its preapproved flight path.

TG473, the 0001 hours Sunday 6 November from BKK to BNE (B788 HS-TQF) took off at 0332 and should arrive at 1450 instead of 1205.

On Monday 28 November, B772ER HS-TJR on TG461, the 0810 hours day flight from BKK down to MEL was not airborne until 0911 hours. Arrival should be at 2155, 35 minutes late.

Thursday 22 December sees TG477, the pleasantly timed for leisure travellers 0900 hours from BKK down to BNE not having taken off until 1007 hours. B788 HS-TQD is predicted to arrive at 2142, 37 minutes tardy.

On Tuesday 27 December, TG475 should arrive 38 minutes behind schedule in SYD after its overnight trip from BKK. Aircraft is HS-TGA (B744.)
